Fleishman Is In Trouble – the series, is fine, good even. (Claire Danes!) But, the book is excellent. The series adaptation did not fully live up to the high standards of the book for me. To no fault of Lizzy Caplan’s pitch-perfect voiceover work but, a lot of the deconstructed narrative structure, internal monologuing, especially the juxtaposition of Libby’s personal life with the Fleishmans worked better for me as written text as compared to an episodic series.
(Probably not an unpopular opinion but I’m nevertheless interested to see what else Taffy Brodesser-Akner does in the television space.)

I’ve only just finished season 1, but Brian Cox is not a lead on Succession. He had less screen time than all of his kids (sans poor Conner) and even Tom. He should easily be in supporting and even the performance is just very supporting-y

Evan Peters is better in Dahmer than he is in most seasons of American Horror Story. I’m not rooting for him to win the Emmy, but I would rather see him winning for this performance than for something like Cult, in which I thought he was awful.

I find season 1 of The White Lotus dull and overrated and I hope that Mike White gets a writers room for season 3 since it’s going to be set in a non-white country with Thai characters.

The first 3 1/2 seasons of the Big Bang theory are the greatest stretch of any consistent comedy show for at least the last 20 years and whilst it was still very good and sometimes great after that point, the introduction of Amy and Bernadette killed that consistency

Also Bialik’s 4 nominations to Cuoco’s zero was farcical. Bialik has since taken a successful UK show and turned into a ratings flop whilst Cuoco took a book and adapted it with brilliant performances. For me Bialik rode Parsons coattails.
