On The Undoing and Mare, I get where that idea is coming from but I don’t necessarily think that the older TV academy bloc is as strong as film.

Thank you. Atleast someone gets the gist of the idea.

Mad Men season 5 and Game of Thrones season 2 deserved to win drama series in 2012 more than Homeland season 1 did.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Honey, wrong!  Quinta Brunson and Issa Rae were miles ahead of Jean Smart (her win was totally undeserved 🤢).

just because they’re the only two POC nominees doesn’t make them better. They were actually arguably the two weakest nominees

Kit Harrington should’ve won Supporting Actor in a Drama for the “Battle of the Bastards”.

One of the best episodes of television ever (that’s not unpopular tho lol)

Claire Danes deserved both her Emmys for Homeland

Is that really an unpopular opinion?

A lot of people think Kerry Washington deserved, but I just feel Claire Danes in the episode Q&A was masterful.

The 2020-21 cycle in drama was stronger than the 2019-20 one overall even though the Emmy field was weaker. The Boys, The Crown, For All Mankind and The Handmaid’s Tale all delivered excellent follow up seasons and there were plenty of shows both on and off the ballot that year with fantastic debut seasons with the likes of I Hate Suzie, Industry, Lupin and We Are Who We Are.

The only reason it was weaker was because of the lazy and uninspired direction the Emmys went in nominations that year. Sure we had seasons that are in contention for all time best on their shows like Better Call Saul season 5, Ozark season 3 and Succession season 2 that were better individually than most of the shows that were nominated in the 20-21 field but the rest of that 2019-20 season was just filled with underwhelming (and in some cases bad) seasons of television that were nowhere near the greats of their respective shows. Anecdotally speaking I’m always struck by how conflicted I am whenever I look over my personal awards archives after I finish a show I was behind on in my drama series field in 2021 but how comfortable I am when it comes to my 2020 field.

The Staircase was more worthy of an Emmy nom for Limited series than all contenders this year except for The White Lotus.

(I very much liked The Staircase too though)

All three and Under the Banner of Heaven were more than every single non White Lotus limited series nominee this year (I’d even argue Station Eleven was more deserving than The White Lotus but that’s a discussion for another time).

The Staircase dragged it’s case too much, i miss limited series with 4-6 episodes. Now it’s like every single one has to be 8-10 episodes long and most of them drag, even Station Eleven which i ADORE, dragged a bit in the latter half.

But yeah, they were better than those 4.

Laura Linney was robbed for her last season and unarguably was the best performance of the bunch.

I was hoping the Emmys had figured out limited series after last year had it be the most competitive category of the year (although I still wish The Underground Railroad or I May Destroy You had beaten The Queen’s Gambit, but at least I felt like The Queen’s Gambit was good.) I’m just so frustrated how Maid and Station Eleven got so ignored; Station Eleven is still my favourite TV show of 2022, and this has been a strong year. I liked The Staircase a lot as well, although I’d put it on the same level as The White Lotus. I’m not upset The White Lotus won, but I would’ve vastly preferred Maid or Station Eleven. I get that Station Eleven was too weird for to pick up many nominations, but I fail to understand their issue with Maid.
