Hannah Einbinder’s performance in Hacks season 2 was similtaneously both underrated and overrated. She is an excellent foil for Smart and deserved to be nominated but her work in the second season was nowhere as revelatory as it was in the first and the hype around her as a win competitive contender was kind of unwarranted. Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, Hannah Waddingham and Alex Borstein were all better than her and going outside of the nominee pool she didn’t come close to Sarah Goldberg on this season of Barry.

(this part isn’t unpopular but I just want to clarify that Better Call Saul 6B, on the other hand, would totally deserve a win in actor, supporting actress, writing, cinematography, and editing)
Better Call Saul was win worthy of Writing imo.Plan And Execution was one of the greatest episodes of that television cycle.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2022 at 4:51 am #1205167050Was jumping up and down of joy when Chastain was snubbed for that awful porn performance and show Bargain Bin Bergman. I knew that flop wasn’t going to make the cut and I knew she would be snubbed cause she flopped with SAG and the show was a massive flop. I’m very proud of predicting her snub cause some people here predicted her win (LMAO!) as a coattail from her (unpopular) Oscar win. As it is, she wasn’t even nominated a ha ha ha ha ha.
Big egg in the face of stans who were spamming Limited with “she’s coming” and “she served”!

Personally, not quite as high on that episode as most are. It’s a solid episode with a fantastic ending but I was a bit underwhelmed by it after all the hype it got. I love Rock and Hard Place though, and if it had gotten nominated I would’ve been totally down for a win (although I do still prefer the writing of All The Bells Say and The We We Are)
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2022 at 7:00 am #1205167117I loved both plan and execution and rock and hard place, but I definitely preferred the Severance and Succession finales as well

November 26, 2022 at 9:59 am #1205167253In the same vein, this may be unpopular but I thought “The We We Are” should have taken the Emmy. It wasn’t really close for me.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2022 at 10:12 am #1205167263The We We Are was the definition of a true directing achievement (and should have won over Squid Game) than a writing one.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2022 at 10:23 am #1205167286I would’ve picked the We We Are as well but it was very close for me between All the Bells Say, plan and execution, and the yellowjackets pilot.
While we’re on Severance, I would’ve been very happy for Patricia Arquette to win Supporting Actress. For me it was basically a 4 way tie between Ricci, Snook, Arquette and Seehorn, I don’t know how I’d choose (I’d probably choose Seehorn just because I’m worried about her chances next year and I don’t know how well she’ll do once the BCS hype dies down)

I will say tho that IMO All the Bells Say is better than The We We Are (which was also excellent, but not my favorite written episode from Severance, that’d be “Defiant Jazz”).There’s something about All the Bells Say that’s so brilliant to me, it’s my favorite episode of the whole series, whether is Kendall confessing to his siblings and delivering THAT gorgeous shot, whether is Logan’s monologue about love after Roman tried to appeal to it, or the shocking ending with Tom and Shiv, it’s just so good.

November 26, 2022 at 10:53 am #1205167333All the Bells Say is fantastic. I think it’s a testament to how strong that year of TV was that there’s so much competition. All the Bells Say was really the culmination of the entire 29 episodes of the show so far, stuff from the very first episode came into play, it’s something that tv aims for but can’t accomplish very often. The We We Are is really tightly paced and every single moment, all four storylines, mesh together perfectly, and it’s able to keep a consistent tone of anxiety for the entire 40 minutes. I give it to the We We Are by a hair but I was very happy to see all the Bells Say win

I will happily die on a hill for “The We We Are”. Dan Erickson is my new favorite writer.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but even being the enormous Severance stan that I am, Arquette’s performance is by far my least favorite part of that show. For me, it feels overdone and almost cartoonish. Don’t get me wrong, she had some amazing moments, but overall I thought it was just too much. Definitely the only off note as far as acting goes in that show for me. I can’t believe I’m criticizing something about Severance! It goes against everything I stand for! 🤣
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2022 at 7:03 pm #1205167649Other than the fact she got in over Sarah Goldberg, Sarah Niles’ comedy supporting actress nomination was actually alright. I wouldn’t have nominated her personally (if I were to rank the nominees personally she would probably sit 7th for me above McKinnon but below Temple) but she was better than all of the supporting men this season and was a great addition to the show in spite of its sophomore slump in quality and the show’s writing not giving her character the most favourable range.
James Lance’s guest actor nomination was the one people should have really been up in arms about à la Kelly Jenrette not Niles seeing as he actually did nothing with his material.

November 26, 2022 at 8:04 pm #1205167752Sarah Goldberg was very deserving but Emmys like always do, every year, unfair things, like McKinnon and Borstein getting nominated, but are Emmys, of course.

Next year will be a lot of that with nominating 7 people of The White Lotus Sicily without purpose, only because they love the show. And obviously Emmys are unfair because they love people focused primary on television over stars doing television. Why are you reporting this post? (optional):Not now
