The whole cast of Freaks and Geeks. The fact everyone would go on to become a star showed that the casting directors knew raw talent when they saw it.

Thrilled it won Casting at the Emmys. One of the most deserved wins in history.

Lucy Liu in Elementary as Dr. Watson

And I think casting Jessica Lange in American Horror Story opened a new career page for her and other actresses.

David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane

I’ll also second the cast of Friends. It takes its (deserved) knocks for lack of diversity, but the producers found six near-unknowns who gelled immediately and each created characters who became iconic.

One of the boldest and best was Jon Hamm on Mad Men. To cast a complete unknown in such a pivotal lead role worked out perfectly but also could have bombed.

The same could be said for the leads of Calista Fockhart on Ally McBeal, Daniel J. Travanti on Hill Street Blues, Ted Danson on Cheers, Rami Malek on Mr. Robot.

Farrah Fawcett in Charlie’s Angels. She became one of the biggest icons of the 70s because of the casting.
