Lovecraft Country (Strange Case)
The Queens Gambit (Adjournment)
WandaVision (Dont Touch That Dial)

The job of the Music Supervisor is to oversee the entrance of previously-recorded music into visual media.

Soundtrack from each of the nominees’ submissions:

    BRIDGERTON

    THE CROWN

    HALSTON

    I MAY DESTROY YOU

    LOVECRAFT COUNTRY

    THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT

    WANDAVISION

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

This actually is quite a strong category (and as unpopular as it may sound, I find this year’s crop of nominees here to be much stronger than last’s).

I May Destroy You would get my personal vote but The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit would also be worthy winners for well crafted character themed pieces of music supervision. Halston and Lovecraft Country also had great music supervision even though I didn’t enjoy both shows as much as the former three.

I can’t remember how pre-recorded music was incorporated into WandaVision? I say this as someone who liked the show a lot (perhaps it’s just been a long time since I saw it). I found Bridgerton‘s music supervision to be quite overrated but this is one of the few places the show actually deserves a nomination. This is a really great category.

    1. I May Destroy You
    2. The Crown
    3. The Queen’s Gambit
    4. Halston
    5. Lovecraft Country
    6. WandaVision
    7. Bridgerton

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

I think The Queen’s Gambit, though I haven’t seen Halston. The use of Venus is borderline iconic, but mostly, the use of music to build tension in the chess matches is crucial to making them gripping.

I’m so thrilled one of my favourite categories is finally getting a new winner! Pretty happy with these nominees although I’m annoyed at Ryan Murphy being nominated like ASP for Maisel, he’d better not win.

It’s been ages since I watched IMDY, TQG and Lovecraft so can’t say how good their submissions are, but I remember IMDY and TQG having a good soundtrack overall so one of those’ll probably win.

The one to watch out for is The Crown given it submitted its best episode for this category specifically, with memorable sequences like Diana rollerskating to Girls on Film.

I agree. The character focused music supervision has been part of the crux of The Crown’s internet buzz this year (like that Margaret dancing to Bowie video that went viral) and it could snatch it depending on how strong the show is.

I’m currently predicting The Queen’s Gambit to win but the showiness of each of these nominees is making me think. I can see any of them win aside from maybe Halston and Lovecraft. Last year’s race was much easier to predict when it was a three horse between Euphoria, Maisel and Watchmen (although I feel dumb for betting against Maisel last year).

There is only one right answer and it’s The Queen Gambit.
    Especially on this episode

    Emmy winner Matthew Macfadyen!!
