Devs – 4 nominations including cinematography and sound.
Hollywood – 12 nominations including 4 for acting
Normal People – 4 nominations including for acting, writing and directing

I think Normal People was sixth in Series and Actor in the same way A Very English Scandal was probably sixth in Series last year.

Normal People and A Very English Scandal had no below-the-line support.  They are the kind of show that does better in the passion-based winners phase than the visibility-based nominating one that might favour Hollywood and True Detective.

Devs is obviously out. Hollywood has the second most noms in limited and it still missed series so it really wasn’t ever in contention probably, much like Westworld this year. Writing, Directing, Casting…all series bellwethers that Hollywood missed.

Normal People had all that and with the help of the British bloc, it was most likely sixth.

I went with Hollywood because overperformed big and got more nominations than Mrs. America which is also period piece with a large ensemble.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Just remembered that Unbelievable missed lead and directing (and everything voted on by below-the-line people exclusively), so Normal People actually has more justification for a series nomination.  Even Little Fires Everywhere missed casting with the Lynn Shelton-supporting directors voting (and writing obviously).  I suppose that there is significant merit to the argument that Hollywood was just never in contention.

The fact that Normal People got into Casting for more or less having to cast two people really well is exactly like how The Two Popes got into Casting at the BAFTAs.

BTW what are you now predicting for Drama Casting?

I guess Succession because I tentatively have it for series?  The Crown did better in directing than expected though.

This is what I’m thinking.

If The Crown or Ozark wins Casting we have a clear runner up in Series and a clear threat to Succession for Directing.
