Witherspoon will appear twice on the ballot for Drama Actress. If you were a voter and you could vote for unlimited choices, would you choose one, vote for both or neither?

Her performance in TMS doesn’t even come close.May 25, 2020 at 5:11 pm #1203500514Apart from with Emmy voters why would this be a question?

I voted for her spunk in The Morning Show and did not vote Big Little Lies largely because it was so long ago. There were fun things like that speech that Witherspoon did as linked above or that drawing of her being unhinged, but I cannot recall a full performance worth voting for, unlike Laura Dern.

Her horrid West Viriginian accent on TMS is one for the record books.May 25, 2020 at 9:14 pm #1203500766I cannot recall a full performance worth voting for, unlike Laura Dern.
Her performance in the first episode of the second season was amazing. She was all over it: blaring the horn at a driver, taking her anger out on Nathan, ignoring the house viewers while on the phone to Renata, facing off with Mary Louise, yelling at Abigail that she doesn’t care about homeless people.
I do think you’re right in that most voters will vote for her more recent work on TMS because BLL aired so long ago. I just hope that doesn’t affect Kidman’s chances.

Or Nicole Kidman.
I know I made that silly little joke earlier but considering 16 people voted for Big Little Lies and 8 voted for neither, does that tell us about her Emmy chances (I’m saying this as someone who has her 5th for TMS)?

Emmy voters checking off both performances cannot mathematically be why she vote splits. It is the opposite of vote splitting.

May 26, 2020 at 3:57 am #1203501207I am very surprised at the result of this poll. I assumed “neither” would lead the way quite substantially.

Why so? I’ve always felt that her BLL performance is much more respected here than elsewhere.
