The Handmaid’s Tale is definitely not a lock. The only locks for drama writing are Succession and The Crown.

If writers kept THT at WGA then I don’t see why they’d drop it here. Especially if the directors keep it as the user is predicting even though they dropped the show too.

Also you made a little typo that I fixed! Thank me later!

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

I don’t want to go on about a prediction I’m still on the fence about, but it’s not necessarily without precedent. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel was still nominated at WGA and was then dropped at the Emmys. I don’t think it would represent a downturn in love for the show, I just ran out of slots.

You could argue that The Handmaid’s Tale had just enough fumes to keep it in at WGA, but it will be out by the Emmys. The third season of Homeland still got WGA and DGA before being dropped in those races at the Emmys. True Detective, which premiered after the guilds, pushed it out in both races. The greater lesson from WGA was that Big Little Lies and Stranger Things are done in writing.

I think with Writing we’re going to see what we saw with Comedy Writing last year. Shock snubs, shock surprises (*coughs* Mindhunter *coughs*) and things going as usual.

Also not predicting it but don’t be surprised if The Crown gets shut out by the directors.

Who do you think will win drama directing and limited directing?

Limited directing is much harder. My gut goes to Watchmen, but not even The People v. O.J. could overcome that big of a vote split. And without a clear standout episode from that three, there’s a HUGE chance of splitting. However, if one of those three pulls forward, I think it’ll be Nicole Kassell. I’ll have to think on it, but for now I’m gonna say Maria Schrader for Unorthodox (with Kassell as a close second).

Which would also mirror Suzanne Bier’s win.

How the HELL did Ozark go from zero writing nominations to THREE?

To be fair, the writing this year was a million times better than it was last season.

4/6 of the nominees for Limited Directing are women.

    The Oscars could never.
