    My pre-ballots predictions:

    DRAMA

    -Directing:
The Crown for the episode “Aberfan” directed by Benjamin Caron

    COMEDY

    -Directing:

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the episode “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino
Schitt’s Creek for the episode “Happy Ending” directed by Andrew Cividino & Daniel Levy
Will & Grace for the episode “We Love Lucy” directed by James Burrows

    LIMITED SERIES/TV MOVIE

    -Directing:
Mrs. America for the episode “Reagan” directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck
Mrs. America for the episode “Shirley” directed by Amma Asante
Unbelievable for the episode “Episode 1” directed by Lisa Cholodenko
    Unorthodox directed by Maria Schrader
Watchmen for the episode “It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice” directed by Nicole Kassell
Watchmen for the episode “This Extraordinary Being” directed by Stephen Williams

    -Writing:
Mrs. America for the episode “Houston” written by Dahvi Waller

I assumed some of the episode submissions and number of submissions per show. At this stage, I went with safe choices.

I would love it if the Emmy just nominated The Crown, Succession and maybe Ozark in writing (in terms of predictions I’m still very cautious about its chances) and then be sentimental and nominate the finales of The Affair, Homeland and Mr. Robot. Unfortunately the only show the writer’s branch is going to possibly be sentimental about is Homeland.

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Jesse Armstrong has already won last year, so I hope they submit more episodes of Succession. Episodes 3-4-5 are Succession at its best.

I know we suddenly have more slots but last time a show receiving both writing and directing nominations yet missing series was in 2011. Either The Outsider and Mindhunter are bigger players than we anticipate or Stranger Things/The Handmaid’s Tale will retain their nominations—of course when the ballots are released we might encounter Succession submitting multiple episodes in writing.

I definitely agree with this. THT is probably in directing now.

I’m aware that Bruce Miller didn’t write, but ‘”Liars” should be their sole submission in both writing and directing.

Both “Liars” and “Mayday” are spectacular, so I’m fine if they go with the latter for both – especially directing.

10 nominees for limited series categories is ridiculous when limited series itself is locked at 5

I’m not predicting 10 nominees. After 5 I am listing the 5 next in line.

I saw riley doing top 10 there too so I assumed maybe it’s 10 nominees now with the new rules.
