I liked most of it but for those of you who are far in, how much of the, er, cannibalism is there? The scenes where they were showing the meat and eating the girl who dies at the start of the episode made me feel super super queasy.

There is one scene during the entirety of those eight episodes in which they try to forebode it but the duration of that is only like for a few seconds and isn’t incredibly severe. The show focuses more on why and how they’ve descended to such means in the flashbacks in the wilderness rather than just simply being a show about teenage girls who descend into means like cannibalism to survive (although from the next time for next week’s episode (9), it does look like they’ll be exploring their descent towards cannibalism in quite a bit more detail).

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

I just finished the pilot episode. I liked most of it but for those of you who are far in, how much of the, er, cannibalism is there? The scenes where they were showing the meat and eating the girl who dies at the start of the episode made me feel super super queasy.

The show is more interested in the reason for the descent towards cannibalism and other behaviours (as well as the trauma caused by being involved) etc than it is in showing unnecessary gore. It will show violence and gore at times but it’s minimal. I’m pretty sure the Twitter account literally lists the minutes per ep to look away.

It really isn’t for everyone (but I kind of like that). (I feel the same about my headspace for pandemic drama, I just can’t with Station Eleven and will have to go back)

    Shauna:

This episode was a trip (like. literally) and now I have even more questions.

I kind of like the duality in Shauna, though. Such an interesting character.

And Lynskey plays on that quite well as well (especially in this episode). She has some of these rather sinister tendencies lurking underneath but at the end of the day is just a normal relatable down to earth person. She isn’t too unhinged if that makes sense?

Yeah. I kind of like that because traumatised people are often like that. I mean sometimes yeah, they are a bit more visibly “off” like some of the other girls in the older versions, but there’s a lot of people carrying a lot of baggage/fury that present like Lynskey.

Is Katherine Waterson available? Courtney Eaton looks a lot like her.
