They should cast Angela Lansbury as the queen mother.

I so hope she is amazing but I am nervous after Colman because I remember thinking she was going to be perfect.

I honestly can’t dare to imagine Staunton would be underwhelming in anything but that’s just me. With some of her past works arguably including some of the facets needed to play the role (she’s played a lot of similar maternal characters to the queen in the past) and how reliable she’s been as a thespian, I’m going to try and not waive in confidence right now haha.

On a separate note I’m quite interested to see how prominent the queen is in the upcoming seasons. Considering the timeframe season 5 will explore I still anticipate the queen will still be in the backseat but there is of course a notorious event around 1997 that I expect will undoubtedly provide Staunton with baity material at some point in season 6.

Imelda Staunton looks great. I can’t wait to see the first look on the other cast members.

I like Olivia and actually think she’s underrated as the queen sometimes (really, sometimes), but she better prey that Imelda tucks it up lol
If she ends up being the worst of the 3 and right in the middle of them, oh dear.

I think she’s perfect to play the Queen Mother!

Marion Bailey was also great to play the Queen Mother, but sometimes they write her off.

For me Colman is as brilliant as Foy. Don’t mind the fanboys of the first two installments. I love that they took on the character differently and on their own terms as actors. Same as with Kirby, whose performance I LOVE to the moon and back and Bonham Carter who gave her own sesitivities to the role. I actually prefer Menzies over Smith. Staunton is going to kill it, no doubt about it. What I’m looking forward and excited for is how they will portray the characters differently on their own capabilities as established thespians.

HBC and Menzies did what they had to do. Can’t complain a bit about them.

Well HBC has given us one of the finest performance of her career as Margaret so yeah I don’t think we have something to complain about. Philip has been the weakest among the trifecta to me but you’re right there’s nothing to complain about Menzies’ take on the role. He owned “Moondust” and should have been Emmy-nominated at least last year if not win.

Colman played the queen as a cool grandma, unless Imelda disappoints, she will for sure be remembered as the worst.

I love the Marcia Warren pick. She should already be an Emmy winner for Vicious. Not that anyone watched it.

We just got it here on Prime. Funny. She is a good pick.

I’d like to know who they’ll get as Anne which I am guessing needs to be someone at least in their 40s?
