Thanks for pointing this out, Gus! The improvements we’re making in the forums are not done yet. We need valuable input like this from you — well fix the time issue. TXAugust 29, 2018 at 8:18 am #1202619235
Is anyone else having issues with the odd’s for choices not showing up in the Oscar prediction center?
I open the prediction center for Emmy’s my odds show at what I locked in at and what the current odd’s for choices are, but not in the Oscar Prediction Center.September 3, 2018 at 6:29 am #1202622137
Every time I edit one of my comments, the site algorithm acts like it no longer exists, even though it does. The comment no longer appears on my activity log. I can’t quote it. And I can’t delete it. It’s just… there. Why? Because apparently whenever I edit a comment for any reason it suddenly “needs to be approved by a moderator.” And never has a moderator approved it. Very frustrating.
Can someone fix this please? 🙁September 16, 2018 at 5:31 am #1202632961
The Oscar and SAG odds are still non-existent in the predictions center.September 16, 2018 at 4:05 pm #1202633343
We’re now in the process of reconfiguring the way we do racetrack odds, so we don’t want to debut them for Oscars and SAG until we nail that down. We’re working on it! Stay tuned!October 1, 2018 at 11:28 am #1202644139
Any updates on when we can expect the odds in the prediction centre? Seems to be taking an awful long time.October 5, 2018 at 8:58 pm #1202647198
Looks like the odds are back. Get them rankings in!October 7, 2018 at 10:35 pm #1202648272
I’d love if you could add more categories to the predictions, mainly the Grammys and also some of the missing categories on the Oscars. I always disliked the little amount of predictions that were available for the Grammys. As far as the design maybe a switch up on the main page or Atleast on the predictions part. It’s been the same for awhile so just an idea.December 10, 2018 at 4:21 am #1202696276
Can we get notifications when someone quotes your comment instead of getting useless notifications when someone replies in a thread you’ve created?December 10, 2018 at 4:33 am #1202696294
Steven Yeun never being added in the prediction center for LAFCA when people asked for his name to be added both in the forum topic and in private message is a recent example of the problem that there doesn’t seem to be people routinely checking the forums.
That creates examples like this where there is a lack of communication between users and administrators and it allows harmful users (I can think of a few that are outwardly racist) to keep posting on the forums without repercussions.
Of course I know that you can’t check every forum topic because there’s so many but you know the popular ones and just checking in once in a while can make the forums a better environment to post in.December 10, 2018 at 5:00 am #1202696321
Absolutely love Gold Derby website. I joined just yesterday and binge watched all the all the videos 🙂
Might be cool though if there is a parallel ranking based on our actual favourites and not just predictions. As I understand it the prediction rankings are based on what members consider the probability of the films are to win, which does not necessarily match our actual favourites.
(Forgive my ignorance about this stuff) Still learning about the different factors at play how the different academies decide the nominations. Apparently all sorts of parameters like who the voters are (film makers or critics or academics etc), the time of submission, the “this actor has been been nominated many times and is “owed” a win”-factor and even this “backlash” thing which is super weird.
I’m really enjoying everything on the site though. Thanks again Tom!December 29, 2018 at 2:39 pm #1202713511
Looks like the odds are broken. For example, 0.6% of Globe predictions in limited/movie actress are for Connie Britton, but if you predict her, you only get 9/2 odds. Such a longshot prediction previously might have yielded a 100/1 return, which seems more fair in light of the risk and the math. 85.5% of predictions are for Amy Adams and you get 16/5 odds for going with her, which is a 3.2 multiplier, not much different than the 4.5 multiplier for Britton, even though 148 times as many people are predicting Adams than Britton.

Out of curiosity: has there ever been talk of adding a Hide Spoiler feature in the forums? If not, I feel like it would be a really great thing to have.
Obviously release dates vary by country, and I can only imagine the frustration and disappointment from users who have things accidentally spoiled for them because they can’t see film/tv as fast as other users.
