Let’s face it: is there any better reason to watch the Golden Globes every year than to see the stars walk the red carpet (except for seeing who gets drunkest at the party, that is). Who among the nominees and presenters turned up for the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards on January 7 topped our best and worst dressed list? Tour through our photo gallery to see which celebs wore it best, and which wore it worst.

This year, several stars turned up dressed in all black as a show of solidarity with the #MeToo movement. Women such as Caitriona Balfe (Best TV Drama Actress for “Outlander”), Meryl Streep (Best Drama Actress for “The Post”), Jessica Chastain (Best Drama Actress for “Molly’s Game”), and Rachel Brosnahan (Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) all used the highly-viewed televised event as an occasion to combat sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry. Several men also joined in the cause, including Sterling K. Brown (Best TV Drama Actor for “This Is Us”), Freddie Highmore (Best TV Drama Actor for “The Good Doctor”), and James Franco (Best Comedy/Musical Actor for “The Disaster Artist”).

You may be surprised to see who made the cut. While there were several flowing gowns and sharp tuxes, there was the odd outfit or two.

Caitriona Balfe, a nominee as Best TV Drama Actress for “Outlander,” graced the carpet in a stunning black gown.

Jessica Biel, a Best TV Movie/Mini Actress nominee for “The Sinner,” impressed in a slick black gown.

Alison Brie, a Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress nominee for “Glow,” lit up the red carpet in a stunning black gown.

Sterling K. Brown, a nominee as Best TV Drama Actor for “This Is Us,” looked sharp in a sleek black tuxedo.

Rachel Brosnahan, a nominee as Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” looked stunning in a sleek black gown.

Laura Dern, a Best TV Supporting Actress for “Big Little Lies,” looked stunning in a sleek black dress.

Ann Dowd, a nominee as Best TV Supporting Actress for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” impressed in a flowery black gown.

Claire Foy, a nominee as Best TV Drama Actress for “The Crown,” could have looked a bit more regal were it not for her all-black pants suit.

James Franco, a Best Comedy/Musical Actor nominee for “The Disaster Artist,” shined on the red carpet in a black tux.

Freddie Highmore, a nominee as Best TV Drama Actor for “The Good Doctor,” impressed with a black tuxedo.

Allison Janney, a Best Supporting Actress nominee for “I, Tonya,” added a bit of contrast to her black dress.

Richard Jenkins, a Best Supporting Actor nominee for “The Shape of Water,” impressed on the red carpet in all black.

Nick Jonas, a Best Song nominee for “Ferdinand,” was clad in all-black on the red carpet.

Daniel Kaluuya, a nominee as Best Comedy/Musical Actor for “Get Out,” brought class to the red carpet with a black tux.

Katherine Langford, a nominee as Best TV Drama Actress for “13 Reason Why,” could’ve tried a little harder with a silver-belted dress.

Jude Law, a Best TV Movie/Mini Actor nominee for “The Young Pope,” brought class to the red carpet in a black tux.

Ewan McGregor, a Best TV Movie/Mini Actor nominee for “Fargo,” wore a black shirt to compliment his black tux.

Laurie Metcalf, a Best Supporting Actress nominee for “Lady Bird,” stunned everyone in a flowing black gown.

Chrissy Metz, a Best TV Supporting Actress nominee for “This Is Us,” impressed with a flowering black gown.

Michelle Pfeiffer, a Best TV Supporting Actress nominee for “The Wizard of Lies,” could’ve tried a little harder with that black dress.

Issa Rae, a Best TV Comedy Actress nominee for “Insecure,” looked stunning in a showy black dress.

Best Drama Actress nominee Jessica Chastain (“Molly’s Game”) and Best Supporting Actress contender Octavia Spencer (“The Shape of Water”) had a “Help” reunion dressed in black on the red carpet.

Meryl Streep, a Best Drama Actress nominee for “The Post,” arrived with Women’s Activist Ai-Jen-Poo in a stunning black gown.

Denzel Washington, a Best Drama Actor nominee for “Roman J. Israel, Esq.,” impressed in all black on the red carpet.
