The 47th Annual Daytime Emmys are being held on Friday night, June 26, under unusual circumstances. The winners will be announced during a virtual ceremony held remotely and broadcast on CBS. And the television academy has announced the presenters who will participate in the event to give out the kudos. Scroll down to see the complete list.
This 2020 ceremony is a major change of plans. The event was originally scheduled to be held over three nights from Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14. The first two nights would have been Creative Arts ceremonies, while the top categories were set to go out on the last night. That would have been similar to the three-night format that the Primetime Emmys have adopted.
However, the coronavirus pandemic forced the shut-down of many media and entertainment events over the spring, shuttered movie theaters and Broadway shows, and led to delays for the ACM Awards, Oscars and more. So the television academy had to scrap its in-person award shows in favor of a new socially distanced version.
But these Daytime Emmys cover programming that aired during the calendar year 2019, before COVID-19 went global, so the pandemic didn’t affect what material was up for consideration. So they’re going on with the show with “General Hospital” (23 nominations), “Days of Our Lives” (22 nominations) and “The Young and the Restless” (21 nominations) as the top contenders.
The virtual event will be emceed by the co-hosts of “The Talk”: Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Marie Osmond. Are you looking forward to the show? See who’s presenting below.
