It has been more than a year since the original “Project Runway” ended its last season on Lifetime in the fall of 2017. That coincided with the bombshell sexual assault and harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, leading to the downfall of the Weinstein Company that produced “Runway.” So the fashion competition was left in limbo.
But “Runway’s” original network, Bravo, picked the show back up for a 17th season, albeit with a few new faces. Host Heidi Klum and mentor Tim Gunn are out, and in their places are model Karlie Kloss and past “Runway” champ Christian Siriano. But as always the cast of designers includes a diverse array of artists, spanning the globe from the United States to Syria to Samoa.
There are 16 contestants vying for the title, and the winner gets the show’s biggest grand prize yet: $250,000, a feature in Elle, a role in a Bluprint digital series, and $50,000 to put toward their own design studio. Get to know this season’s designers by scrolling through our gallery above.
