Chicago-born Chance the Rapper entered the Grammy history books in 2017 when he became the first person to win for a streaming-only mixtape, “Coloring Book,” in the categories of Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album. Despite those accolades, he’s perhaps best known for being an “outstanding role model,” as President Barack Obama once dubbed him. At the age of 29, he became a coach on “The Voice” in Spring 2023 and hopes to join the show’s iconic winners list on his first at-bat. Now that the Season 23 blind auditions are over, can Chance the Rapper prevail on NBC’s reality TV show?

Resident: Hutto, TXNOIVAS is no stranger to the musical stage ever since he picked up his first guitar at 10. He found some early success opening for Andy Grammer, Gavin DeGraw, Emeli Sandé, and Jason Mraz, but in the last few years NOIVAS has put music to the side to focus on his family. He and his partner had their first daughter, Bella, just over a year ago and recently welcomed their second daughter. Since settling down, NOIVAS has been working as a project manager in the tech field. He now wants to show his daughters that he tried every opportunity that came his way to pursue his dream of being a musician and wasn’t held back by fear.

Resident: Elkins Park, PAAn R&B/soul singer/songwriter powerhouse, NariYella started thinking about a career in music at 8 when she sang in her school’s talent show. Since then, NariYella has showcased her talent anywhere she can – performing at amateur night at the famed Apollo Theater, alongside Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge, with her church, in school choirs, at community events and student protests, and in various competitions. In addition to the creative outlet, NariYella gravitates toward the business side of the music industry, currently pursuing a major in vocal performance and a minor in music business, entrepreneurship and technology. Crediting her mom’s leadership and drive, NariYella is deeply committed to perfecting her craft and hopes to positively impact people with her music as well as use it for personal healing. She had a four chair turn and was the last pick for Chance the Rapper as his team is now filled. NariYella was also shot as a mystery and had Kelly singing lyrics from “One Night Only” during the deliberation.

Resident: Buford, GAThe youngest of eight siblings, Jamar grew up in a household where everybody sang. He and several of his siblings banded together to create a group called Addiction, but as he got older, he knew he wanted to go solo. With his family’s support, he moved to Atlanta to pursue music full-time. To date, Jamar’s biggest show was performing 10,000 people in Atlanta, opening for legendary R&B singers. Jamar is equally passionate about his role as a father and husband. Married to his wife just a year ago, the pair met six years ago at church. Jamar’s stepson, Christian, played cupid, giving Jamar his mom’s number before she could. He’s incredibly grateful to have such a strong support system from his beautifully blended family that includes his daughter, son and stepson.

Resident: Lexington, OHMadi, Ana and Bella are singing sisters from a small town in Ohio. From a very young age, the moment their toes touched the floor in the morning, their synchronized voices could be heard throughout their home – pure, spontaneous, and in perfect harmony. At 10 and 12 years old, Madi and Ana gained recognition when they performed the national anthem at the Cleveland Cavaliers opening game. Soon, it became three times the fun when baby sister Bella officially joined the group. The trio then established themselves as Sorelle – the name deriving from the Italian word for sister. Their original music has won them three PopSmash Music Awards and built an audience of 3.2 million followers on TikTok who tune in for their daily posts and weekly broadcasts.

Resident: Jacksonville, FLMariah has been singing and performing since she started taking dance lessons at 5. She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap and contemporary, and is currently focused on Afro-fusion and hip-hop. Mariah is about to graduate high school and decided to give singing her full attention. Education is extremely important, but music is where her heart lies and she dreams of forgoing college to focus on her music career. Mariah’s parents have made a deal with her — if her career starts taking off, she doesn’t have to worry about college. She has the rest of the school year, plus the summer, to make that happen. She was shot as a mystery.

Resident: Chesapeake, VAMagnus has been taking music seriously ever since he won his high school’s talent show singing “All of Me” by John Legend. Two years ago, Magnus heard previous Pharrell, a previous coach on “The Voice,” was looking to put together a gospel choir and holding auditions. Magnus went to an audition with 250 other people and waited all day for his chance to sing. Eventually, he got to sing in front of Pharrell himself and was one of 50 people selected for the choir, Voices of Fire, which he still sings with to this day. Through the choir, he has sung with Pharrell on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Now, he wants to see if he can make it as a solo artist.

Resident: Los Angeles, CAChloe, who has had a passion for singing since childhood, is an exceptional track and field athlete. She ran track full-time in middle school and auditioned for school musicals despite the rigorous schedule. Through determination and hard work, she qualified to compete in the 2020 Olympic trials, but fell short of making the Olympic team. Since then, Chloe signed with a coach in Los Angeles and is a professional T&F athlete training for the 2024 Olympics. While she strives to make the Olympic team, nothing will stop her from singing.

Resident: Desoto, TXManasseh didn’t make a team on Season 22, and she knew it wasn’t her best performance. Since that time, she has focused on her emotional and mental health through a lot of positivity, practice and prayer. She’s also continued to take more vocal lessons. Growing up, Manasseh struggled with her own self-worth, but that started to shift after getting involved in choir in middle school and being told she had a true gift. Now, she’s a preschool teacher and music plays a big role in her classroom. Manasseh wants to make sure that her kids are prepared for the next part of their lives when they leave. With the support of her family, she now wants to prove that repetition and work conquer fears.

Resident: Tempe, AZRay fell in love with music at a young age and went to a performing arts school where he was introduced to classical music. At college, he was active in choirs, opera and also began writing and recording music. Ray and his friends even put together a sold-out cabaret show in their hometown. Currently, Ray is working as a business and data analyst. His goal has always been to use his professional career to fund his passion for music. During his free time, Ray takes every opportunity to work on and advance in music and performing, whether it’s booking a studio session, recording at home, auditioning for shows or late-night sessions in his car.

Resident: Nashville, TNAlyssa began singing in the car with her mom at 3 while dad would cover their home walls in Elvis memorabilia. She started playing piano and writing her own songs, playing regularly at almost every bar and venue near home by 14. She moved to Nashville after high school to continue growing her career as a singer/songwriter. Alyssa, who moved to Nashville after high school, has diabetes but has never let it get in the way of her dream. From her eccentric taste in fashion, to her experience playing rock, Alyssa’s style can be described as Billy Joel meets Mamma Mia meets Queen. She continues writing her own music and even released an EP, “Hopeless Romanticism,” that garnered over 417,000 streams on Spotify.
