Awesome, I’ll probably check it out then! Thank you guys so much!
It honestly baffles me that Maisel has become so unpopular with writers. It’s such a well-written series. The rapid dialogue is pitch-perfect, and I can rattle off dozens of one-liners at any time just because they’re so iconic. Every season so far would be such a deserving winner in the category. I’m not usually the type to laugh out loud while…[Read more]

Considering starting Bates Motel, has anyone seen? Would you recommend? I need another long series binge but don’t wanna start on anything I’ll lose interest in.
I don’t think most shows should tackle COVID, but this is one of the few where I think they could handle it really well. Should it dominate the plot? No. But I think Armstrong and the other writers could do some very funny lines on it if they keep it to just minimal references.
Eddie Murphy and John Mulaney are not comparable.
Murphy’s episode had MASSIVE ratings, almost twice the numbers SNL has regularly gotten in the last decade. Mulaney’s popular, sure, but Murphy is a comedy legend, and his big return to the show was significant and pushed hype through the ROOF. Actors like Maisel, and Kirby is definitely second,…[Read more]
Colman and Carter are essentially locked.
Anderson is also pretty much a lock, which I almost never say about new contenders, but her iconic character and the fact that we know she can deliver a phenomenal performance make her an easy assumption, though whether she ends up in supporting or guest is still to be seen (no assumptions should be…[Read more]
Super-secret? Super creative showrunner? Embargo lift (and therefore release date) in October? Very exciting but not probably going to get major nominations?
The Haunting of Bly Manor is COMING you guys.
I doubt Modern Love comes back in time. Jesse Eisenberg has been cast, but they likely want to assemble another all-star ensemble around him, and figuring out all those busy schedules (especially with all the projects now postponed because of shooting restrictions) will take some time. The first season actually started shooting a full year before…[Read more]
Jane Alexander, Olivia Cooke, Julia Garner, Anne Hathaway, and Andrew Scott were all nomination-worthy, but Amazon simply had to push them all in supporting (or not at all) for no good reason.
Cristin Milioti also deserved to get in.
Post-Emmy nods. Only including the shows that are CONFIRMED to be airing by the end of 2020.

What I think is in dead last in each category:

Lead Actor – Anthony Anderson
Supporting Actress – Marin Hinkle
Supporting Actor – Sterling K. Brown
Guest Actress – Bette Midler
Guest Actor – Brad Pitt
Writing – What We Do in the Shadows, “Ghosts”
Directing – Will & Grace, “We…[Read more]
This will be the year that first/last season stat is broken. I might be eating crow in September, but I feel almost 100% confident in saying that Carell will not win.
Strong and Cox will be a Killing Eve-type situation, where pretty much everyone will vote for one or the other. Sure, there’s a chance they vote-split, but if they do, Bateman will…[Read more]
I’m four episodes into this and still not sure how to feel. Jane Levy is very very good, and her talent and overall ‘vibe’ is so great. Her inevitable Globe nomination will be extremely deserved. The Mo character is one we’ve seen before, but Alex Newell has so much charisma and energy that he really pulls it off and makes Mo my favorite. Lauren…[Read more]
Please do watch Euphoria! It’s a very divisive and controversial show, but I think it’s the most well-made and technically stunning show on TV right now. If it’s not your thing I totally get it, but worth a try!
And I think Zendaya’s chances are VERY high. Even if she doesn’t win this year, I do think she’ll get a trophy for this role…[Read more]
I doubt Eugene Levy wins. He’s undoubtedly the weakest link of the main four acting-wise, and he just doesn’t have the same material as the rest of them.
I think Youssef takes this one easily. He fits the trend they’ve started to go for in that category almost to a T: creator/writer/director of a darker more realism-based comedy. There are only…[Read more]
Heptapod replied to the topic Ozark (Jason Bateman and Laura Linney Netflix drama) in the forum Television 1 week, 2 days ago
I would bet actual money that the writers are drafting a flashback episode right now to get Tom Pelphrey the Emmy he was robbed of.
The Tom Pelphrey for Guest Actor in a Drama Series 2022 (?) campaign starts now.
I’m no longer so confident about Laura Linney. People voting for her depends on them having seen the whole season. If Pelphrey had been nominated, I think she’d be a shoo-in, but his snub means that they likely didn’t see his best material in episodes 8 and 9, which means they didn’t see hers. Aniston benefits from having her best showcase (the…[Read more]
