this season is just so brilliant and id really love for it to get any sort of emmy recognition.

1. Succession
2. Better Call Saul
3. Bad Sisters
4. The White Lotus
5. Interview with the Vampire
6. Yellowjackets
7. The Last of UsMay 26, 2023 at 3:36 pm #1205442552I strongly disagree with these comments. I truly don’t mind that this season wasn’t as plot-driven as season one. I found it to be an interesting, campy, and at times heartbreaking mediation on trauma women are often forced to be exposed to, which I found was told in a rather engaging way. There were a couple full-circle moments in the finale which I really did think were quite sometimes touching, sometimes bleak, and added a lot of nuance to the show’s dialogue on trauma. I don’t mind the early season having the characters separated, because I think we got to see rather interesting moments that added nuance to the state of each character’s trauma that culminated to their state of being leading up to the finale.

But I am wondering if we could see a surprise nomination. I think the best comparable would be Neicy Nash’s shocking nomination for season 2 of Getting On—a quiet yet standout performance by an (at the time) under appreciated working actress in the second seasons of an under watched yet acclaimed HBO dramedy. I’m thinking the restricted voting could definitely help her too—leaves more room for passion votes to materialize.
May 18, 2023 at 8:37 pm #1205432409such an incredible… and hilarious… final episode. excellent performances all around. was particularly impressed by Elizabeth Marvel. Would love if she somehow managed to get an emmy nomination because wow wow wow. the chicken wings twist was absolutely hilarious. great finale

ReplyMay 5, 2023 at 9:34 am #1205421744Just added Sophie Nelisse to my predictions. If she gets nominated, I think she’d have a very strong shot at winning (if Snook stays supporting). Still think her nomination will be a hurdle, but if voters are watching Yellowjackets up to episode 6 she will absolutely get in.

Seems like the type of shit the Emmy voters would eat up. Might as well add to my predictions while odds are 1/100.
April 20, 2023 at 11:43 am #1205400934I saw the first two episodes at SXSW and loved it. Love the other two of the first 4 as well. Very excited for this series and would love to see Gilpin get a nomination. Such an absurd show but such ridiculous fun.
I have a feeling this is going to be a critic favorite and maybe build awards momentum over the seasons.
Feeling very strongly this is going to perform very well with critic end of year lists — such as the metacritic aggregator.

Could definitely be a dark horse contender for nominations if it catches on with audiences, I think it will. Though i’m not sure how critics will react yet. Could see it going comedy. I enjoyed it a lot. Very zany and unpredictable. Betty Gilpin would be a very worthy contender. Watch out for Margot Martindale in guest actress.
Worried about it being on peacock, but I do think the show has potential to gather a very loyal fan base.
September 20, 2020 at 6:00 pm #1203722043Is this the first comedy to ever have 7/7 wins at the Emmys? Has any other show ever completely swept?

September 12, 2020 at 8:13 am #1203700718The anti-Blackness and misogyny embedded in these comments… anyways y’all stay underestimating Regina. Her film is coming for some major nominations at the least.
