Thriller, obviously, but I would say a close second is Bohemian Rhapsody, since it literally was the reason music videos became essential to promoting music.
As of ones in recent years, I would say Single Ladies, Bad Romance, and This is America are the standouts.
ReplyJanuary 12, 2021 at 11:54 am #1203980012I’m obsessed with drivers license. I just know it’s gonna end up being either my most played song of 2021 or at the very least top 5.
She has such a bright future ahead of her, I’m excited to see her reach her potential. I hope she dominates 2021.
ReplyDecember 21, 2020 at 6:21 am #1203936646Evermore CD arrived, it is so beautiful, the CD print and the booklet. It is so sad CDs are about to go extinct and very few artists care to manufacture them. Most of record stores are closed and the big chain stores are kinda closing the CD section. At least vinyls have become a trend.
CDs are so underrated! I started collecting a bunch of them from my favorite artists. I like them more than vinyls, but it’s sad how hard it is to find some CDs.
Speaking of, my folklore CD is arriving today- I snagged a signed copy during Cyber Monday for $13. I’m excited to finally have it!
December 9, 2020 at 7:30 am #1203905403I think it’s between Exile and Rain On Me. It reminds me of Spirit v. INLA last year when we were quite evenly split on who’s going to win. Exile’s advantage: 1. Ballad 2. Era momentum 3. Excellent songwriting Exile’s Weaknesses: 1. A single that wasn’t pushed hard enough on radio barely got airplay which may hurt its familiarity among the voters. Rain On Me’s advantage: 1. Most critically acclaimed nominee in this category 2. Good commercial performance, worldwide. And decent radio airplay especially on HAC. 3. The only nominee that has both strong critical reception and commercial success Rain On Me’s weakness: 1. An era that lost momentum
I also feel like the star power of Ari and Gaga is bigger than Taylor and Justin, which could be an advantage.
December 2, 2020 at 10:34 am #1203889791My top artists:
1. The 1975
2. Lorde
3. Lana Del Rey
4. Phoebe Bridgers
5. Ariana Grande
Top songs:
1. Ribs
2. Green Light
3. positions
4. Hard Feelings/Loveless
5. Perfect Places
My top 5 songs is embarrassing haha. So much Lorde- but that’s what happens when you’re writing a screenplay inspired by Melodrama.
I also don’t know how positions and Ariana are so high- I must’ve streamed the shit out of positions when it came out because I dropped it as soon as the album arrived lol
ReplyNovember 24, 2020 at 10:25 am #1203864643The thing that hurts Taylor is not getting a ROTY nomination. Even though she performed very well, once Don’t Start Now was announced as a nominee and Cardigan didn’t, It became very evident who was going to sweep the GF.
Yeah this is what makes me lean towards Dua.
November 24, 2020 at 10:19 am #1203864529I’m screaming that Stupid Love in GD Best Pop Solo is making more sense than real Grammy
Stupid Love would’ve been a much better choice than Yummy
November 24, 2020 at 10:16 am #1203864446I was really hoping to see Phoebe in AOTY….. ugh I’ll hope the Alternative categories will be hers
November 24, 2020 at 10:15 am #1203864425I cannot believe that COLDPLAY is the Lana/Lorde/Janelle of this year
November 24, 2020 at 9:58 am #1203863983I cannot believe Abel was completely skipped over. Everyone thought he would sweep.
ReplyNovember 24, 2020 at 9:49 am #1203863699Not Post making it into Album, Song and Record when everyone was convinced he would be snubbed
