Jesse replied to the topic Oscars 2021 Predictions: Best Supporting Actress (Part 3) in the forum Movies 2 weeks ago
I would love for Christine Baranski to pull an Allison Janney. I can see Catherine O’Hara doing it as well. Her career is basically at its most beloved ever and she can easily win Supporting Oscar for a transformative dramatic mother role.
THIS!!! Loren’s reviews are good, but quite honestly, The reviews for Pfeiffer’s performance were stronger. Yes her movie isn’t as good (according to reviews) but every review clearly highlighted how perfect and deserving Michelle was. I didn’t see that from the majority of Sophia’s.
Also, you’re pretty so 🙃
Like I said in my previous post, in my opinion Frances should be winning her First Oscar for Nomadland. I’d rank the Actresses in her two winning years as such (my opinion):
1. Emily Watson, Breaking the Waves
2. Brenda Blethyn, Secrets & Lies
3. Frances McDormand, Fargo (Still ICONIC)
4. Kristen Scott Thomas, The English Patient
5. D…[Read more]
There are only Four Actresses that I see having a chance at winning (not that all of them will be nominated). But IMO, these are the only four for whom I can see the scenario where they have the best Narrative and win the Drama Globe which leads them to the Oscar.
Viola Davis (frontrunner at the moment)
My statement was about more than just you. But I guess when your posts comprise about half of the entire forum, it makes sense that you take forum-wide commentary personally.
Jokes aside, My comments apply just as much to Luca’s statement in that arguing ‘Ammonite = Queer + Homophobia = Snub’ is just surface level and thus kind of unhelpful.
The surface level political “engagement” present on this forum is so basic and surface level. Like Best Picture over the past few years has proven that straight up racist bigots are a small minority in the Academy. Moonlight cannot win if these conservatives are such a big voting bloc. Neither can 12 Years a Slave or Parasite or even, funnily…[Read more]
Jesse replied to the topic Rank your favourite tv performances – 2019/20 Season in the forum Television 2 months, 3 weeks ago
I have very little confidence in this ranking but alas:
1. Annie Murphy, Schitt’s Creek
2. Catherine O’Hara, Schitt’s Creek
3. Matthew McFayden, Succession
4. Daisy Edgar-Jones, Normal People
5. Angelica Ross, Pose
6. Jeremy Strong, Succession
7. Regina King, Watchmen
8. Reese Witherspoon, Little Fires Everywhere
9. Pamela Adlon, Better Thing…[Read more]
I think Eugene Levy has the weakest competition of the four SC actors, but had the least passion for his individual performance, so it’ll be very interesting to see if he does actually win. Whilst I wouldn’t vote for him over Danson or Youssef, I do think Season 6 was a very sentimental season for him, with his scenes in Moira Rosé, Rebound and…[Read more]
So people are predicting that voters didn’t watch season 6 of Schitt’s bc it’s not on Netflix, and gave it 15 votes based on their love for the first five seasons. If they live the show that much, then why wouldn’t they utilize the FYC streamers and catch up online. There’s definitely a percentage that isn’t caught up with any given show and is…[Read more]

Jesse replied to the topic If Succession could only win one award at this year's Emmys, who should win it? in the forum Television 3 months ago
I’d say Jeremy Strong, simply because Jesse Armstrong has been awarded already for the first season.

Barry. But shoutout to Marielle who has such a human touch to her directing that might not be as flashy as Chezelle, but is so great and consistent.
Jesse replied to the topic Choose the 2020 Emmys Winners.. but You can't award a show more than once.. in the forum Television 3 months, 1 week ago
Drama Series: Succession
Lead Actress: Zendaya, Euphoria
Lead Actor: Billy Porter, Pose
Supporting Actress: Laura Dern, Big Little Lies
Supporting Actor: Billy Crudup, The Morning Show
Guest Actress: Phylicia Rashad, This Is Us
Guest Actor: Giancarlo Esposito, The Mandolorian
Directing: Aberfan, The Crown
Writing: Bagman, Better Call Saul
The combination of Limited Series and movies complicates submissions, as some contenders are episodic while others aren’t. Thus, Lead Actors submit the entire project to engage with the fact that TV Movie contenders cannot submit an episode. Thus comparing this category to drama/comedic which are inherently episodic doesn’t work.
Because Lim…[Read more]
Jesse replied to the topic What are your top 3 series of the past decade? (2010-2020) in the forum Television 3 months, 2 weeks ago
1. The Leftovers
2. Please Like Me
3. The Americans
HM: Fleabag, Schitt’s Creek, Broad City
THIS!!! I love both these shows as well as John Oliver’s, but these two managed to remain consistent and relevant in a way Oliver didn’t. As a South African I’m watching mainly through YouTube, and hope Trevor pulls through.
Not surprised by this choice, but glad he picked it. Johnny is obviously my least favourite of the main characters, but this is a great showcase and his speech is the culmination of six seasons of familial bonding and failed business attempts. I’ve watched the season three times already and that moment touched me every time in a way the c…[Read more]
