March 22, 2021 at 4:49 pm #1204151745Im praying for a Collette and/or Mara nomination😭😭
March 22, 2021 at 4:14 pm #1204151686I think people here got confused with people like Davis and Vikander winning BSA and think that a supporting winner has to be basically a lead but frauded into supporting, King, Dern and all those “career award” nonsense is pretty dumb, they were great in their films and did what a supporting player is supposed to do, and IMO back to the 2021 convo Fishback or Yug-jung should be sweeping this shit
March 22, 2021 at 4:03 pm #1204151661I actually wouldn’t give any of the wins to Frances, while good, there were better performances both years! However she delivered one of the best performances of the decade in any form in Olive Kitteridge so she deserves another decade of accolades

March 9, 2021 at 1:23 pm #1204101425Olsen is not going to stop the Taylor-Joy train. That’s like saying Phoebe Dynevor will win over Emma Corrin.
No because Olsen actually has the performance over Atj, while Emma is sti better than Phoebe
March 9, 2021 at 10:32 am #1204100455I want Fishback or Yuh-jung to win
March 9, 2021 at 10:32 am #1204100447Bakalova is undeniably great but I wish, in hindsight, Tiffany Haddish could’ve been afforded similar support from voters. The Oscars even had Tiff announce the nominees that year, only to get snubbed. 🙄 It was arguably a much stronger Supporting Actress race, but still. Comedic performances of their magnitude are often overlooked.
Oh thank god about that, Haddish is awful and not even funny

Except she is not, she is overrated af, sadly she is sweeping
March 6, 2021 at 7:38 am #1204087744I have to agree that constantly favoring biopic performances needs to stop. Last year, Lupita Nyong’o was ignored despite giving one of the boldest, what seemed like one of the most challenging performances of the year, but she was held back because the movie and the type of role(s) weren’t in academy’s wheelhouse. But they’re obsessed with biopics and people playing real-life people, so I won’t believe in a change of taste until I see it. And that’s not to say that performers who fit their bill aren’t deserving. Olivia Colman was absolutely deserving and so is, IMO, Viola Davis this year — though neither contended/contends for a biopic.
Exactly! Even tho Toni Collette got badly snubbed for one of the best performances of the decade in Colman’s year
March 6, 2021 at 5:19 am #1204087535I’ll be honest Carey Mulligan isn’t in my opinion the best female performance of the year. That title belongs to divine Vanessa Kirby followed by underrated Nicole Beharie. But she’s without a question my favorite performance of the year. And she needs to win. Why? Because roles like this are never getting awarded. Enough with awarding biopic roles or long suffering wives/mothers. We need to be progressive not regressive. Time to award roles like Cassie. From now on I’ll be hardcore supporter of Carey Mulligan. Hoping she pulls it off.
I agree (even tho she is better than Kirby IMO), the worst part is that if she doesn’t pull it off, her best shot is with a biopic called Maestro🥴🥴🥴
