I’m not convinced Gyllenhaal is ever winning. For some reason the Academy doesn’t seem to care about him. I’d love to be proven wrong though.April 30, 2021 at 3:11 pm #1204236905
I think SAG is the organization least likely to go for The Northman. It seems wild and dark and brutal and violent, something the SAG population wouldn’t really gravitate towards despite the quality of its cast.
You’re right. I think it will get a cinematography nom at the Oscars and that’s it. It’s probably too niche.April 30, 2021 at 2:52 pm #1204236819

No “The Northman” ?April 27, 2021 at 7:47 am #1204231281
Cate Blanchett does feel inevitable indeed, and yet the fact that she didn’t win for Carol makes me think it might take a while. I don’t think she’s winning for Nightmare Alley, whether in lead or in supporting. Perhaps her project with Todd Field will be her ticket ?April 26, 2021 at 4:55 pm #1204230411
Winslet is just impressive in this. Can’t wait to see what she does next, whether on film or TV.April 26, 2021 at 1:30 pm #1204229927
All I know is that she’s winning a fourth for Women Talking.April 19, 2021 at 2:28 pm #1204210014

Do you think Adam Driver can get three Globe nominations? Comedy/Musical Actor- Annette Drama Actor- House of Gucci S. Actor- The Last Duel I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but do you think there’s a possibility he gets in all three?
Maybe, after all Helen Mirren got 3 Globe nominations back in 2006 (albeit 2 in the same category).April 19, 2021 at 12:25 am #1204208654
“Annette” is opening the Cannes Film Festival on July 6. Was not expecting this, I though it would be “The French Dispatch”.March 30, 2021 at 3:03 am #1204165457
But Blanchett is now working with Eli Roth…December 9, 2020 at 11:40 am #1203905987
Seeing everything in contention, The Northman, Nightmare Alley and The Lost Daughter (I hope this one makes it) are what I’m most excited about.
I absolutely can’t wait for The Northman and Nightmare Alley, I imagine these two will show up in competition at the Venice Film Festival next September.
