Honey, Taylor Swift rushed this crap because she knew Adele would NOT be releasing this cycle. If she is truly THAT bitch, release an album and compete during the same time as Adele.
No it was because Billboard was changing it’s rules about bundles soon. Taylor needed to milk that one last time.

ReplyAugust 1, 2020 at 10:05 am #1203620626When you’re talking about breaking through in the general field a black artist needs a fair amount “white support”. Summer doesn’t fit the “Grammy brand”. While she’s not big enough to belie the idea black performer the Grammys tend to go for. We know culture, demo appeal, politics, recency all play a role when it comes to the Grammys. Not just numbers. I would like to be surprised this time.
I agree and that’s why I’m not predicting her. I just don’t think Chloe and Halle are any different, especially since their album bombed. No one knows who either artists are outside of R&B fans. Neither of them have an acclaim like Janelle Monae did, neither of them have big crossover this like Ella Mai did.
Everything For Love was literally one of the most predicted AOTY nominees whichever year it came out. While some learned their lesson after that, there were still a lot of Homecoming predictions. It’s easy to forget those projects today, but when they came out it was the typical stan response that we see time and time again.

Summer’s album has been out for almost a year. And when Beyoncé has a chance at gf nods she gets them. So, I fell to see your point Karen.
Those are anecdotes. Summer Walker is getting support from the same fans. Want proof? There is none lol. But the numbers say who is bigger.
Beyonce can get her solo stuff in, but all these side projects that her stans say she’s getting in “because it’s Beyonce” don’t get in. Chloe and Hallie fall into the side project category for her.

That’s kind of my point. Their “acclaims” are similar so it’s not an advantage they have over Summer Walker. The latter does have the far bigger success advantage though.

Yes their album was smaller, but it got acclaim, they are past nominees, their sounf and image are way more closer to someone like H.E.R than Summer Walker’s more sexual content, and they have that Beyoncé/Parkwood promo. They’ve also been performing everywhere: the GLAAD Awards, YouTube’s Class of 2020 Events, The Today Show, the BET Awards, MTV’s little quarantine concerts, the Global Citizen concert, and doing interviews left and right. To the people asking how to campaign during a global pandemic, let these girls show you.
Summer Walker got more acclaim (86 vs 81) and her album didn’t flop. Beyonce can’t even get her own stuff in the GF anymore. Columbia will probably be pushing for Harry Styles and Dixie Chicks who have a far bigger shot.

it was #3 though so even without juice wrld it wouldn’t top the chart.

July 6, 2020 at 6:59 pm #1203571290How isn’t Ungodly Hour in the AOTY prediction centre yet? I understand not putting Sawayama in since she’s a new artist with no prior Grammys, but Ungodly Hour is by a BNA nominee, was highly acclaimed, and has the sort of sound the Grammys tend to like.
Let’s not get carried away with acclaim. It’s only an 81 on MC. That’s basically average these days.
