Killing Eve season 3 is the worst season of television of an acclaimed show since Homeland season 3.

May 26, 2020 at 5:32 am #1203501337My guess is, unless this explodes with Emmy nominations, we won’t be seeing season two.

May 22, 2020 at 12:20 pm #1203495751Wow. I began as a super fan of this show. But that enthusiasm has dwindled. I thought “Alice” was cringey and emphasized the show’s worst instincts.

May 21, 2020 at 7:16 am #1203493297This episode was excellent. They finally made the two problematic storylines (Memo 618 and Bianca) click into place as well as having a morally grey, boundary-pushing case of the week and having a quintessential political subplot.
This episode further reinforces my feelings on the season overall: it’s wildly mixed and inconsistent. A+ premiere, followed by flawed episode, followed by a solid one, followed by two bad ones, and now an excellent one. It’s all over the place.
I think they will coincidentally be able to end on a nice note and put an end to Memo 618 next week with the Epstein case, after learning what we did about Memo 618 this week.

May 15, 2020 at 5:44 am #1203482605An exceptional conclusion to the series. The speech Annalise gives about wearing masks is one of the most profound monologues in television history. I had so many tears during this episode, between everything Annalise, Bonnie’s concision, and the arc of Connor and Oliver — I’m thunderstruck. Their Veep-inspired final section was beautiful, but even more so for showing the years in between the trial and funeral.

May 14, 2020 at 5:13 am #1203480880With “The Gang Goes to War,” season four continues to be the land of the average and flawed. The premiere may be my favorite episode of the series so far, but the episodes that have followed since have made this season rank at the bottom of the list of all eleven “Good” seasons. The tone has changed so drastically this year. In addition, the episode-to-episode quality is just not there. Julius had a quick turnaround without the buildup needed to fully pull it off. I maintain that the new firm and its overlords do not work here. And Diane’s subplot storyline about drawing circles is A) stupid, B) belonged more fittingly in her season two storyline. One redeeming quality is Liz’s new romance with Caleb (mostly because Hugh Dancy is a delicious man).
Cush Jumbo announced yesterday on Instagram that she is not returning for season five. This is infuriating on one level — the fact that Lucca’s storyline is so small potatoes and vacuous this year, all the more reinforced by this episode — and heartbreaking for fans on another — we will only get to see 7 of the 10 episodes planned for season four, which means we won’t get to properly say goodbye to Lucca. Lucca carries great significance to me due to her ties to Alicia from Wife. I am so sad that she is leaving. But maybe that, combined with the fact that Joe Biden will likely beat Donald Trump in November, are signs that maybe Fight should wrap up soon? If Trump and the Trump era are gone, the show will lose a lot of its purpose and driving force. Unlike Wife, Fight hasn’t invested a great amount into the characters to survive without the political/cultural commentary.

May 12, 2020 at 4:00 am #1203477478Oh man, I Know This Much is True lives up to its reviews. I was on my Peloton bike when I watched this, and I looked down at my phone during two LONG scenes, thinking they were wrapping up, but then they continued on, and on, and on. It’s maybe the least focused show I’ve seen since the COVID crisis began. I admire the way the series is filmed, and Mark Ruffalo is clearly here to win some televised awards, but I’m not moved. I typically go for darker stories about broken characters, but so far, this isn’t cutting it for me.
I also agree with Riley. I’m having trouble seeing the larger significance to the story or the project that merit its existence and indulgence.

My point: Hugh Jackman is vastly superior to Mark Ruffalo, and I doubt the remaining five episodes will make me change my mind.

May 11, 2020 at 11:13 am #1203476254The Emmy Drama Actress race so far :
June 2019 –
Nicole Kidman : Ha ha I’m getting my second acting Emmy.
November 2019 –
Olivia Colman (to Kidman) : (*chokes*) Hold my beer.
SAG 2020 –
Jennifer Aniston : Guess who’s back in town!
March 2020 –
Laura Linney : I’m going to win another Emmy and no one is going to stop me!!!!!!!
May 2020 –
Jodie Comer : Not so fast bitch.
Well, hopefully we come full circle and return to the beginning of this competition, and Kidman wins her second Emmy. But we won’t because the Emmys are not about merit.

May 11, 2020 at 11:03 am #1203476229The Good Fight would probably have broken into some categories by now if it were on CBS, but it wouldn’t have been a smash hit. It wouldn’t have been an easy fix-all for the show’s problems. I actually don’t think the Emmys would like Fight any more than they liked Wife, to be honest. Fight is more of a cultural capstone for resisters+ and journalists, whereas Wife was a balance between character development, themes, and plot.
As the biggest fan of The Good Wife/Fight in these forums, I have to say, I’ve contended with the fact that Baranski will go unnoticed. Season 2 was her peak acting on the show with her the best character arc of her career, and was snubbed. The show will never have greater momentum than it did last season, where they campaigned the heck of out of her, and she still missed. The premiere of season four is an excellent tape, and one she should win for, but again, if it didn’t happen when we had complete seasons uninterrupted by global pandemics, it won’t happen here.
Some things were just never meant to be.

May 11, 2020 at 10:50 am #1203476180For the past few weeks, I’ve rewatched The Good Wife, which is my favorite show. I watched the new episode of The Good Fight, “The Gang Gets Satirized and Doesn’t Like It,” in the middle of that rewatch. I thought perhaps having consumed so much Wife may have influenced how I viewed Satirized. After watching Satirized again this morning, the answer is no.
I can usually tell by the running time of an episode in the Good universe as to whether or not it’ll be good. This was nearly an HOUR. Yet, the brilliant premiere was barely 40 minutes. Conciseness is a friend of the Good.
I was severely unimpressed and unamused by this episode. I could have swallowed the satire to an extent, but when you add in the breaking of the fourth wall, it really soured me from this storyline. Diane’s plot, in particular, felt as though it was pandering to the infamous online Queen Baranski Stans. I didn’t mind the subplot about the McHart sex life, but it was so clumsily forced into the script. On top of the Slave Play exploration, I am really growing irritated with Memo 618. The season is literally half over and we’re no more progressed as to what it is, nor have we outgrown the silly, repetitive gimmicks, like Diane’s computer searches. I’m not really fond of the new firm, setting, or the mystery surrounding these people either. And not to sound like a total complainer, but the Lucca /rich client storyline isn’t working for me. I mean, if they can tie it to Lucca’s character development somehow, and her lack of friendships, other than Alicia in Wife, maybe it could go somewhere. But I get the sense this one will just skim the surface.
Grade: C+
I’m not optimistic, to be honest. The President Hillary premiere was excellent, but this is so far, and by far, my least favorite season in the Good library.

May 11, 2020 at 7:58 am #1203475766Why doesn’t this show get more Emmy traction? The Issa/Molly rift has unfolded in such a way that has made Insecure one of the best comedy series of the year.

May 11, 2020 at 5:36 am #1203475639I liked this episode more than the other (poor) episodes in this season, but I’m still left with more questions than I am left satisfied. Jodie was good, but I’m getting over the character and definitely over the show as a whole.
