Insecure got a big bump and has the benefit of being on HBO, they know how to do FYC campaigns. The question is what happens when Barry comes back and they potentially have 2 shows to campaign.

I saw some report that Dan Levy is only the second person to win all 4 of his categories after Alan Alda (MASH) but the only one to do it in one year. Not sure but seems accurate. The other winners of 4 in one year that I know of had at least one below the line.
And Sandra Oh calling Dan the “most Canadian” for apologizing for winning last night was brilliant. Poor Sandra though. I’m sure she’s set a record for Asian actress going without a win, but she’s almost the only one ever nominated so she might have had that record after 2 noms (1 nom?)

The producers don’t know until the moment it’s revealed. Even during the Creative Arts where it was all pretaped they had the accounting firm revealing them live to the director/producer which is why they had the snafu last night when they hit the wrong button and had the mismatched voice over to title card. Jimmy Kimmel said they asked if they could find out to make it easier on the tech support and were told absolutely not LOL. poor guy doesn’t want another LaLa land.
ReplySeptember 20, 2020 at 3:34 pm #1203721164This is the oddest order but I guess it’s nice if you only care about one category. Really can’t imagine why they’d put supporting after lead though.
ReplySeptember 20, 2020 at 12:22 am #1203719723Sure, and they had the momentum going in (prior nom and Guild win). It feels like Hair Makeup Costumes groups vote more for the whole season than the single submissions but who knows. Not judging who should win, I just didn’t think it was a “random” win for SC.

It was the only below the line nom they had last year and they won the Guild award earlier this year for S5, so I wouldn’t call it “random”. Catherine O’Hara accepted for the show and was naturally hilarious. Can’t wait for her speech on Sunday. 🤞🏽

Daily Beast wrote an article exactly on that topic FWIW

I see Guest is back to harp about TGP and broadcast TV. How many accounts is that now? 🤔
