Classic GoldDerby idolizing people that use slurs. Kendrick is extremely talented, but that doesn’t give him the right to use that word and be deserving of praise for it. It’s disgusting, and if an artist you all weren’t fans of did it you would be ripping them to shreds

May 12, 2022 at 12:23 pm #1204950225Best New Artist is by far the hardest category to predict. I hope Muni Long wins but that’s just a hopeful prediction.
Best New Artist has been a hard to get excited about category since the extension. I think they should have that one go back to 5, we haven’t had a year where 8 or 10 nominees was really needed.

May 8, 2022 at 3:06 pm #1204946384My updated predictions! I think it will still be 10 nominations, but hope they go back down to 8. Album: Adele – 30 Bad Bunny – Un Verano Sin Ti Brandi Carlile – In These Silent Days Coldplay – Music Of The Spheres Harry Styles – Harry’s House Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers Lizzo – Special Robert Plant & Alison Krauss – Raise The Roof Rosalía – Motomami Silk Sonic – An Evening With Silk Sonic Record: Adele – Easy On Me Brandi Carlile – Broken Horses Doja Cat – Woman Ed Sheeran – Shivers Elton John & Dua Lipa – Cold Heart Harry Styles – As It Was Justin Bieber – Ghost Kendrick Lamar – TBD Lizzo – About Damn Time Silk Sonic – Smokin Out The Window Song: Adele – Easy On Me Brandi Carlile feat. Lucius – You And Me On The Rock Coldplay feat. BTS – My Universe Ed Sheeran – Shivers Encanto Cast – We Don’t Talk About Bruno Harry Styles – As It Was Justin Bieber – Ghost Kendrick Lamar – TBD Lizzo – About Damn Time Silk Sonic – Smokin Out The Window New Artist: Amber Mark Anitta Dove Cameron Latto Lauren Spencer-Smith Muna Muni Long Omar Apollo Orville Peck Tate McRae Wet Leg
Why would Brandi submit You and Me On the Rock for SOTY? It’s a great song, but why in the category sorted alphabetically by song title would she not submit Broken Horses?

May 5, 2022 at 6:43 pm #1204943570Nathan Lane in Death of a Salesman I’m iffy about, but Andre de Shields I would see.
I’ll watch anything with André de Shields in it

May 5, 2022 at 6:41 pm #1204943568I’m not a big Lizzo fan, but About Damn Time is really catchy

May 5, 2022 at 4:34 am #1204942684BTS’s discography is quite all over the place. What exactly do they need a compilation album for? For Bieber, I did not stream Justice even once, everything after Purpose don’t sit well with me. Their good looks don’t make up for the mess they make of artistry.
I don’t understand this either. Compilation albums are for artists who’ve been successful for years, not for a band with a cult following that they get from their looks and dance moves not their voices. They have like 2 hits, they don’t need a compilation album.

May 3, 2022 at 7:23 am #1204940695I don’t honestly think Hold My Hand will get more than just the Visual media category But I feel she can pull a I’ll never love again and win It 🙂
I agree, I enjoyed the song but it didn’t have the same huge hit vibe I got when I heard some of her others (Shallow, Bad Romance, Poker Face, etc.) for this first time. I think she’ll definitely get nominated for BSWFVM and the win will depend on how much voters love Encanto.

May 2, 2022 at 7:24 pm #1204940323Mary Badham, who played Scout Finch in the classic 1962 film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, will be playing Mrs. Dubose in the upcoming national tour of Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation. https://www.nytimes.com/svc/oembed/html/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2022%2F03%2F06%2Ftheater%2Fmary-badham-to-kill-a-mockingbird.html#?secret=Qj91iGrThE

May 2, 2022 at 3:59 pm #1204940165Lindsay Pearce is set to join the national tour of Mean Girls as Janis. https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Lindsay-Pearce-to-Join-MEAN-GIRLS-National-Tour-as-Janis-20220426 Not to mention that I saw English Bernhardt (a current standby for multiple roles) post on Instagram that she’ll be taking on the role of Cady full time.

I just saw Mean Girls on tour and it was so good! I’ll definitely have to go again now that Lindsay Pearce is in the cast (have loved her since The Glee Project, and she was phenomenal as Elphaba)
So excited for this! I’m hoping it comes to my city because I am dying to see this show

April 30, 2022 at 1:12 pm #1204938196Nope. At least I’m hoping not, I do not want her up against Adele!
Even if she doesn’t release an album she’ll be up against Adele in ROTY and SOTY

April 28, 2022 at 10:31 am #1204935852Unless it’s for a musical, soundtrack songs rarely become hits but I think it could get nominated for visual media and the Oscar
I don’t think it’s fair to say soundtrack songs rarely become hits, there are always a few each year that do

April 28, 2022 at 7:43 am #1204935586Yes because Brandi Carlile relies on commercial success for nominations? And that’s without getting into how ABN is at the top of the ballot while Hold My Hand won’t be. Go look at Stupid Love, INLA, ARUTW all missing pop. Gaga is not a guaranteed namecheck like that. And no, I do not care that ARUTW managed to get a nomination that it’s early on the ballot for. This is a film soundtrack song with no real narrative. It’s going to need to be a hit to get anywhere outside of BSFVM
I agree it’s definitely going to need to be a hit to get into the pop and General field. Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing if it’s going to be a hit at this time

April 27, 2022 at 10:02 am #1204934497That Top Gun song will be a non factor.
In the pop and general fields? Probably. That being said it’s naive to say it won’t be nominated in Best Song Written for Visual Media if successful

April 27, 2022 at 7:37 am #1204934267From what we’ve seen last year with Miley Cyrus & MGK, Avril Lavigne may submit Love Sux in Best Rock Album, not Best Pop Vocal Album. It’s not getting in though.
Yeah I love Avril, but she has no shot
