    2001 RAP SOLO

Eminem “The Real Slim Shady” – WINNER
    Common – “The Light”
DMX – “Party Up (Up in Here)”
    Mystikal – “Shake Ya Ass”
Nelly – “Country Grammar (Hot Shit)”

All of these songs were everywhere. I would not have been mad if Common or DMX won.

    DMX was robbed.

    R&B Perf: safety net
    R&B Song: safety net

oh yeah I did not think of that as a performance category.

just a scenario. Is ROTY a performance category ? Let’s say Olivia Rodrigo only big song is driver’s license and she gets into only ROTY & SOTY and nothing else. Would she be ineligible for BNA the following year? I know for SOTY no, but ROTY it’s a performance category too.

She would be ineligible regardless. That rule no longer exists. Once you’ve been nominated for a song where you’re the main performer you can no longer compete in Best New Artist in later years.

She should submit The Weeknd collab to Pop Duo. Or if she can get away with it.. R&B Performance.

Ariana needs to hurry up and make pov a single so she can get that well deserved Song of the Year nomination. Hell, put it in Pop Solo too.

Jazmine & H.E.R. on one track is Best R&B Song bait. They’re two of the most prolific songwriters in their genre. I would be surprised if that missed.

I PRAY Ari Lennox finally breaks through. She’s been killing the game for a couple years now with 0 notices by voters.

Ari’s mouth and attitude is what’s holding back her career. She has a little bit of that toxic Azealia Banks energy in her. I hope she fixes that and don’t let it manifest because she’s a great talent.

DaBaby and probably Brittany Howard. Though I really hope Brittany wins something somewhere.

Bieber can also lose all 4. Pop Duo and Country Duo are the only ones he has a fighting chance in though.

Also if Megan loses Rap Performance she may go home empty handed since Best New Artist is not promised.

    Best Traditional R&B Performance:

ON It F/ Ari Lennox – Jazmine Sullivan.

The Ari collab is better than the H.E.R collab to me. Hopefully she submits that to Traditional and submit Pick Up Your Feelings to R&B performance and R&B song.

Hopefully the R&B committee moves on from H.E.R. Kinda doubt it since shes allegedly dropping an Album this year. Hopefully she doesnt sweep. Jazmine deserves her flowers. Maybe Progressive R&B for Jazmine and H.E.R can take R&B ALbum.

Jonas Brothers, Xtina, Britney all got nominated for BNA. Xtina and Britney also pulled off ‘Female Pop Vocal Performance’ nods too. Justin even got one back in 2010, when he was basically seen as a Disney star (I know he technically wasn’t on Disney but still.) It didn’t really take Ariana a while; she got in on her 2nd album which was her first big era. Miley got in with Bangerz which was her first big era as well. Since this is shaping up to be big for Olivia, I don’t really see why she couldn’t get in.

I agree she isn’t a lock (no one really is this early into the season) but she’s got the first true smash hit of the year, already has support from Taylor and seems to be taken seriously as a writer. I think if ‘Driver’s License’ manages to keep its momentum, Olivia has a shot at a bunch of nominations

Britney, Justin and Christina were on Mickey Mouse Club as kids performing. It was more of a Kids Star Search meets SNL than a scripted musical tv show. Miley had big hits before Bangerz that were ubiquitous see: Party in the USA so saying that she never had a breakout since Bangerz is false. She’s always been successful commercially she just never was taken seriously.

^True. Kendrick got 2 undeserved Grammy wins for “I”. It’s a good song but it’s not the Best Rap Song of 2014 nor was it the Best Rap Performance. Drake, KANYE & Nicki were all robbed.

    I would go:

    Best Rap Performance:

Drake – 0 to 100/ The Catch Up
runner up: Childish Gambino – 3005

    Best Rap Song:

Kanye West – Bound 2 f/ Charlie Wilson
Runner up: Nicki Minaj – Anaconda

    BNA hopefuls ~

    Bree Runway
    Morgan Wallen
    Rina Sawayama
    Sault
Summer Walker (they fucked up big time)

The other 3 can surprise us and make a space for themselves in 2021
