With the Comedy categories having a lack of strong contenders this year (outside of Maisel & Creek) and with everyone seeming to predict HBO’s Run and Netflix’s Space Force due to the people involved in those projects, how come no one is predicting Hulu’s The Great?
The Great is written and produced by Oscar-nominee Tony McNamara (The Favou…[Read more]
Best New Artist:
Summer Walker (R&B, Hit debut album with Over It)
Megan Thee Stallion (Hip-Hop, 2 hit mixtapes, “Savage” is about to become her biggest hit yet)
BENEE (Pop/alternative), her single “Supalonely” is starting to blow up & she counts Elton John as a fan)
Doja Cat (Urban Contemporary/Pop, “Say So” is a hit, almost Top 10)
Don T…[Read more]
IDK about Space Force… I mean, how many science fiction series that take place in space do really well at the Emmys??? This could be another Avenue 5. I’m going to wait for an official trailer to drop before I predict this as a potential nominee.
I actually think she would have a decent shot in either category honestly. It might be slightly easier in Supporting, but I have a feeling she will breakthrough with a surprise nomination in Lead Actress this year, so I say keep her there.
I also don’t think Jeremy Strong should be put in Supporting. Yes, he would have a great shot at winning…[Read more]
Given how uncommercial this category was this year, I would only expect to see 2 recognizable names… maybe 3… unless voting procedures/jury panels do actually change.
Also, I think Jhené Aiko stands a better shot at getting in over the 3 females you listed (or at the very least over non-factor Tinashe).
I like Dua Lipa and hope her album sells well, but… she isn’t a huge pop star just quite yet and it’s hard for me to imagine she sells more than 100,000 copies her first week. My guess would be closer to 50-60K. Having said that, I think she’s a safe bet for noms in Pop Solo and Pop Vocal Album.
I think a lot of people are o…[Read more]
My drama picks (once again based only on what I have seen):
OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:
Christopher Meloni – The Handmaid’s Tale
Max Minghella – The Handmaid’s Tale
Martin Short – The Morning Show
Bobby Cannavale – Mr. Robot
Asante Blackk – This Is Us
Omar Epps – This Is Us
John Gallagher Jr – Westworld

Based only on what I have seen (I haven’t watched this season of Curb), I’d root/voter for…
OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES:
Luke Kirby – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Zachary Levi – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Dustin Milligan – Schitt’s Creek
Victor Garber – Schitt’s Creek
Eddie Murphy – SNL
Adam Driver – SNL
RuPaul Charles – SNL
I could see that happening. I mainly see them finally breaking through in the Rock Performance & Song categories with “The Steps” …it’s one of their most “rock” or less pop-sounding singles yet.
If The 1975 were finally able to get a Rock Song nom this year, why can’t HAIM?

I think it would be a fun and inspired choice for MTV to nominate the new (expensive) Joseph Khan directed music video for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Doubt it would happen, but I think it would be cool to see in Best Pop or the tech categories.
I really hope this show still premieres in early April as planned. I know they haven’t finished filming on this season, but I hope CBS All Access decides to still release the episodes that have already been completed/filmed.
Wish I knew how far along they were before the production shutdown.
Has anyone heard of new artist BENEE? Apparently she’s suppose to be the next big thing (a la Billie Eilish) and has the support of industry folk like Elton John.
Her single “Supalonely” is starting to take off. Y’all think she has Grammy potential?
Based solely on the first episode (Lol), I would say they’d put Aaron Paul in Lead Actor and Jeffrey Wright & Ed Harris in Supporting. And if Ed is somehow eligible for Guest, I’m sure they’d push him there.
I too really want to see Annie Murphy take home the win this year!
I do love Alex Borstein as well, but she can win again next year. I think after her the only other actress that might compete for the win could be Phoebe Waller-Bridge if submitted for Run (IMDB lists her as only being in 2 of 8 episodes though… so probably Guest Actress?).
I’ve watched most of The Crown’s latest season and I wasn’t really a big fan. I know a lot of people feel that way. I don’t think Tobias Menzies is safe because in terms of the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category and how competitive it is this year, his performance is one of the least flashy or standout-ish, in my opinion. Which doesn’t…[Read more]
Jojo’s new single “Man” is good, but I know she’s going to try to push it in R&B and that panel will reject her… even if she deserves to compete there.
Her song with PJ Morton “Say So” did win the Grammy for Best R&B Song this year, but he was the lead artist/songwriter, so Jojo probably won’t happen in the R&B Field unless maybe Tank submits…[Read more]
Having a prediction isn’t the same thing as “hating” lol.
I just recognize that like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga has become a seasoned artist and from here on out it is going to be a little more difficult for her to score hits and major nominations unless she does something creatively different or innovative (like A Star is Born). Beyoncé and ot…[Read more]
I had stopped watching earlier in the season, but decided to start catching up today. From what I have seen so far, I would say the following actors all have a decent shot at scoring a nom:
Sterling K. Brown
I feel like This Is Us is very much an unknown in terms of its chances. Personally, I’ve grown tired of the show and stopped watching this season… maybe I’ll binge on a later date… not sure.
People are saying it’s buzz is gone, but I know it’s ratings are still good and that it’s consistently been nominated for Drama Series over its first…[Read more]
