Why does it sound like people on here are pitting Andra Day vs Vanessa Kirby. You know they both could end up being nominated, right???
Once again, let’s wait and see their films first before we drive ourselves crazy. The both have pros/cons:
Vanessa (Venice winner and baity role/Film could be too dark for voters)
Andra (Lee Daniels d…[Read more]
There needs to be transparency with the Blue Ribbon Panel. Period.
There is no reason why they should remain anonymous or secretive (once they’ve already voted) … unless they want to appear and act shady.
Additionally, like the Academy Awards have done with the Foreign Film category, I think there should be a combination of the top voted c…[Read more]

Dua Lipa’s album doesn’t fit the mold of AOTY winners. For me, I feel like the nom is her reward. She’s still a relatively new artist and I can’t see the Recording Academy wanting to reward her. I think her best shot at a GF win will be for Record of the Year.
As of right now, the award is Taylor’s to lose. That doesn’t mean that the race can’t…[Read more]
Finally watched this and yea… I have to agree… it’s not great.
The MAIN issue I had with this film was its direction. Stories like these should NOT be told by people like Ron Howard. He has no grasp of the type of life these characters live and doesn’t know how to accurately portray this world. This needed a grittier more honest dir…[Read more]

I kind of have a problem with the Black Pumas nomination. Harvey admitted that the album was submitted last year and that it was only eligible again this year because of the “deluxe edition” which included over 51% more new tracks.
So okay… the Blue Ribbon Panel receives a list of Top 20 albums from this past Grammy voting period. Black Pum…[Read more]
Eww… Harvey Mason, Jr. is making things worse by commenting on The Weeknd’s disappointment! He’s even bringing up the Super Bowl claiming nominations were decided before they knew The Weeknd was going to do the Super Bowl so that couldn’t have played a factor … to which I respond: bull$hit! What a (bad) liar.
I don’t mind that he said something, but I agree it would have been better if he didn’t. He should just continue to be successful and snub the Grammys from this point on. Success is the best revenge.
Separate side note…
Listened to this Jacob Collier album for the first time ever and LOVED it!! Features a lot of artists I like. So props on…[Read more]

I wish I didn’t but I 100% believe it or at least some version of this story.
The Grammy producers plan and make deals for their performances long before even the nominations come out. This is a fact. There have been past conflicts with artists having to decide if they will either perform at the AMAs or the Grammys. The Recording Academy likes t…[Read more]
I agree with Gucci, I think Harry Styles could very well pull a Kelly Clarkson and win. It’s conservative friendly and a #1 hit.
Otherwise I would say Dua Lipa wins.
I don’t see Taylor winning here… even if she ends up winning AOTY. Doja is too new, Justin’s nom has confused everyone and his disrespectful reaction to it has put him in last…[Read more]
This was a really interesting interview! Idk how I feel about this new Recording Academy president Harvey Mason, Jr.
When asked about why The Weeknd was snubbed, his answer:
“For The Weeknd, in every year you only have a certain amount of people you can nominate for each category.”
When asked about snubbing Country music and…[Read more]
The Country nominations this year seem to favor Miranda Lambert.
Who I think is winning…
Country Solo Performance: Miranda Lambert – “Bluebird”
Country Duo/Group: Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber – “10,000 Hours”
Country Song: “The Bones” (Maren Morris)
Country Album: Miranda Lambert – Wildcard
I’d be really surprised if anyone else won thes…[Read more]
The winners as strategically set up by the nominations selected by the R&B panel are:
R&B Performance: Beyoncé
R&B Song: Beyoncé
R&B Album: John Legend
Progressive R&B Album: Jhené Aiko
Traditional: Ledesi (with an outside shot by CxH)
Something to note… for all the talk of diversity and inclusion in the nominations, I feel like the Blue Ribbon Panel (with omitting The Weeknd and other contenders) set up the General Field for white artists to win in all 4 categories. Just saying.
If we thought these nominations came out of nowhere, wait until we see who the winners actually end up being.
At this point, I’m ready to predict some random ish happening…
Record of the Year: Black Pumas – “Colors”
Album of the Year: Jacob Collier – Djesse Vol.3
Song of the Year: “Black Parade” (Beyonce)
Best New Artist: D Smoke
I will say the Album of the Year noms aren’t bad, just unexpected, which I guess isn’t bad either. The only questionable nomination is that of Coldplay’s. To be fair to them, I haven’t listened to their album (did anyone?), so maybe its worthy?
D Smoke nominations are crazy! He’s a crazy-talented rapper but as of right now, I thought he was only a reality TV show winner from Netflix. Still, it’s a cool nom (and gives Netflix some serious cred, lol).
Honestly, the only category that actually makes any sense is Rap Song this year and maybe Best Rap Melodic Performance.
It’s time to do away with the stupid panels!
The R&B categories are a disgrace and for the past couple of years now it seems their nominations have been selected with the intention of raising up the chances of one particular…[Read more]
