Do you think there’s a chance Julia Garner is penalised by some voters this time around for being a defacto Lead, more than ever? In such tight races like these, such minor voter trends might end up making the difference.
I don’t think most of the voters care about this, to be honest.May 15, 2022 at 4:29 pm #1204953044
Still need to watch a LOT more before I can even begin to think about finalizing things, but there’s winner I’m rock solid on right now:
DIRECTING FOR A COMEDY SERIES
(Pamela Adlon for Better Things)
Nothing else even comes close.
In a perfect world, Better Things would have nominations for series, lead actress, supporting actress, directing and writing. Adlon going home empty-handed for Better Things is a shame (almost The Leftovers Part II).May 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm #1204941979
I loved everything about the finale. Perfect. Adlon is a genius.March 28, 2022 at 1:56 pm #1204886441
Encanto winning Animated Feature. I think it was one of Disney’s weakest movies ever.March 28, 2022 at 1:53 pm #1204886435
The Oscars’ internationalization is not working very well. Boring winners, no upsets. We thought they’d be more open to non-English movies, specially after Parasite and Bong Joon Ho’s speech, but they still cannot read subtitles.March 28, 2022 at 12:08 pm #1204886206
“Empire of Light” is the definition of Oscar bait. We just have to wait and see if it’s going to be like “The Artist” or Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor”March 28, 2022 at 5:49 am #1204885334
I love Lynch and Fey, but if they’re nominated for “Murders” they would be the definition of “sleepy picks” IMO.
(sleepy picks and namechecking don’t have the same meaning)March 28, 2022 at 5:42 am #1204885306
I’ll pretend that Jessica won her Oscar for Scenes From A Marriage like Matthew McConaughey won for True Detective.February 10, 2022 at 10:43 am #1204794793
Kristen Bell in The Good Place
Justin Hartley & Susan Kelechi Watson in This Is Us
Jenifer Lewis in black-ish
Bob Odenkirk in Breaking Bad
It is also weird for me that they did nominate Amy Poehler for (almost) every season of Parks & Rec, but they didn’t nominate more actors from the show.February 8, 2022 at 5:29 am #1204785275
The shorts categories always kill my score, lol.February 3, 2022 at 5:43 am #1204769382
People on here seem to forget that the BAFTAs don’t align with the oscars the way they use to since they changed their voting process last year. That’s why only 2 of the 6 actresses who were nominated for best actress at BAFTA last year actually went on to get an Oscar nomination..
But at least this is making things a lot more interesting, I can’t wait to see who the front runner is next week..
Yeah, but last year they were the only group that got every acting winner right.February 1, 2022 at 2:34 pm #1204764487
I think it’s a long shot, but I won’t be surprised if they namecheck Ellen Burstyn for Law & Order: Organized Crime.January 26, 2022 at 6:15 pm #1204752174
I think Bardem is in, however I have a gut feeling that Dinklage will be the Willem Dafoe of this year. Not now
