Saint Laurent *WINNER*March 30, 2021 at 1:01 pm #1204166422She deserved to win for Junebug and The Master. Both were her only deserving nominations. And tbh, I’m ok that she lost to Rachel Weisz in The Constant Garder, but I still cannot accept that she lost to that awful Anne Hathaway performance.
ReplyMarch 28, 2021 at 7:09 pm #1204163064I wonder if The Handmaid’s Tale could make a comeback in directing like Homeland did for season 4.
Not impossible, however the show needs a big name like Lesli Linka Glatter to be namechecked.
ReplyMarch 18, 2021 at 7:34 am #1204142959Diane Warren now has 12 nominations and 0 wins (so far). She was nominated for almost every year since 2015 – the only exception was 2017.
ReplyMarch 15, 2021 at 12:36 pm #1204135779Something I hadn’t thought about but is it possible that Perry Mason makes it in for Series but it gets shut out everywhere else above the line? It’s performed quite well with the creative arts guilds and gotten in at places where Lovecraft Country and Ratched have failed to.
Not impossible. Big Love was nominated for drama series in 2009 and it was the show sole nomination.
March 15, 2021 at 7:08 am #1204133525Apart from Marion Cotillard, they were all veterans who were either overdue or swept.
I don’t disagree Andra can win but she’s not some lock.
Zellweger, Moore and Blanchett were also the frontrunners since August/September of each year (and even before that). Both Cotillard and and Streep were only facing one true competitor (Christie and Davis).
Day’s situation is definitely not the same, as she’s in a category that the only performance that is 100% not competitive is Kirby. At least for now.
March 15, 2021 at 6:38 am #1204133321I love Glenn Close, and that’s the reason why I think she needs to win for Sunset Boulevard, not for this trash.
March 15, 2021 at 6:09 am #1204133006Only Promising Young Woman (actor, editing, and director) can challenge Nomadland.
And writing.
March 15, 2021 at 6:01 am #1204132912Sad that they really went with Glenn Close
March 15, 2021 at 4:48 am #1204131849I need Delroy Lindo nominated and Gary Oldman snubbed!
