I’m a huge Foster fan, but I’m not so sure she will receive nomination. But then category is volatile, so its anybodys guess. For those of you whove seen The Mauritanian, is she nom/win worthy?

So theoretically, Glenn couldve lost by two votes and that is difference between love and respect. That is luck. She is both loved and respected by AMPAS.

Resistance? Stalemate? LOL Academy nominated Glenn 7 times(including for stuff The Wife, Albert Nobbs and The Natural). They LOVE her.And I guess she knows it too. Same for Amy Adams. Academy clearly loves them.

That may be your opinion and nothing is clear here. Hunter and Foster were better in those years imo. Academy clearly prefered other performances. I would give 1982 supporting Oscar to Glenn but thats it.

Would you say that certain actors are overdue? Like Glenn Close? To me nobody is overdue and I dont care if someone has gazillion nominations or not. I always look at an actual field of nominees.

People always talk about who is overdue for an Oscar and few years ago I found an interesting article where Samuel L. Jackson was quoted that nobody is overdue. The Academy doesnt owe anything to anybody. And I kinda agree. Being nominated is huge honor itself and being invited to celebrate best in cinema is huge honor. But Academy should not…[Read more]

‘James Coburn”s part in Affliction was first turned down by Paul Newman and then James Garner, both turned it down because they felt that it would be very tiring to play such a dark, awful character. Both actors were friends of Coburn, and Garner suggested him for the part.
