This might be the moment when straight people who refuse to watch gay movies discover Timothee Chalamet.

I think this will be a hyperpop, new-disco fantasia.

If Kidman pulls off Lucille Ball watch out for her, the industry love her and she is playing an iconic figure. The film being oscar friendly too will only help her as well.
I feel like the accent is the biggest hurdle, just like in the case of KStew. I love Nicole but she isn’t suited for those roles that require a chameleon. Her strengths lie elsewhere.
I think she should work with a good dialect coach if she wants to try this kind of role in the future because you can really notice problems when she’s tackling specific accents.
It’s interesting to see how actors do well with accents in Larrain films. Maybe he recommends then to some good dialect people.

Why do I love this exploitative genre of famous women crying in elaborate sets and beautiful gowns 😭August 19, 2021 at 10:36 pm #1204405902
Lorde’s music will never be fully a satire because she’s both “with them” and “against them”, just like in Royals. The charm comes from that ambiguity. I never know whether to take Mood Ring at face value and empathize (and cringe slightly) or see it as a satire (and laugh with her). That’s a plus for me.
Regarding the album, this is not even 60’s inspired. This is a 60’s album (by way of early 2000s). Like this is the type of album that would have been a classic in the 60’s. I love some parts and I’m indifferent to others, but I mostly appreciate the direction. The critiques here are way more subdued than Pure Heroine but I’m here for this duality I’ve talked about even if some parts don’t work by themselves. It’s a vibe album definitely.August 19, 2021 at 10:07 am #1204404729
Cult classic. Her Anti. We don’t deserve.August 17, 2021 at 1:40 pm #1204401077
there’s a section of mood ring that reminds me of another song. can’t place my finger on it.
Probably I Love You Always Forever.
I don’t mind it. I hate that song cause the radio at work plays it non-stop. 😭July 22, 2021 at 8:58 pm #1204358643
Well the first film was about race and the second was about class, so the cloud probably contains… sexuality?
Oh. Let me get in there…July 17, 2021 at 11:31 am #1204350628

People clearly don’t like the cold, clinical, authoritative, androgynous, sinister roles Tilda Swinton has…essentially been typecast in (unless this is genuinely what she wants to do). It’s a little like Johnny Depp with Tim Burton in “weird” roles over and over until they start seeming shlocky. I suppose that’s why people love her in We Need to Talk About Kevin. I think my fave performance of hers is in I Am Love. I think she’s fantastic, but it’s clear (even before reading anybody’s opinions on Gold Derby) that people are a little tired of the…shtick?
Yes, but I’m gay so I’m gonna like her in everything (except doctor strange)June 13, 2021 at 3:39 am #1204298692

I’m ready. Even if it’s bad (hopefully not), we will get a camp classic.June 11, 2021 at 6:42 am #1204296248
so when we will talk that “sooooolaaarr poower” part is EXACTLY like “neeeeeed” part in …at the holiday party by st vincent? like its scary how similar they are my boy jack fucked up there
I hear it but it doesn’t have the same vibe to me. I think it has a different effect here because of the placement in the song.
Regarding the song, I like where she’s going with it. I don’t really like the prechorus part but I hate prechoruses in most songs. They just mess with the flow. I also think they should have gone a bit harder on the chorus. It’s good but I needed some more layers to give it that freeing sound. A good remix is needed.
It’s very Beach Boys and 60s and, considering that I hate the music of that era, I like it enough.
