Interesting…
It's not common for embargoes not to lift until the thing has already been live for three days. Obviously — obviously! — nobody should be putting out spoilery headlines or whatever, nobody should be wrecking the show for you on purpose.

I think I can say this without breaking any rules: I expect reactions to the finale to be lively.

January 21, 2022 at 5:14 pm #1204742799I posted this in the Ozark thread, but in case people are avoiding it due to spoilers: Amanda Marsalis, one of the directors of Ozark S4 Part 2 posted on her Instagram that part 2 will be out in May.

ReplyAugust 7, 2021 at 4:52 am #1204385372Chris Mundy addressed this exact question a year ago:
It has been speculated amongst fans that the character, played by Tom Pelphrey, could make a return in the show’s fourth season, though Mundy has now put the rumour to bed.
Speaking at a virtual PaleyFest panel for the show, Mundy responded to the prominent fan theory of Davis’ fate, saying: “I love the fact that people love [Ben] enough to come up with that theory.
“I wish it were true,” he added. “But it ain’t true.”
He could return in a flashback or something, but his character was killed.
July 27, 2021 at 4:14 am #1204365347The reality is though very few dramas have actually wrapped an entire season within the pandemic so it’s a little hard to judge what’s normal. Of the returning shows Succession and The Morning Show I believe are the only ones that have. Stranger Things is still shooting and the started pre shutdown (currently month 11).
For sure. It must be difficult. The vaccination rates are also really low in Georgia where they film, compared to NY where TMS & Succession film.
July 26, 2021 at 2:23 pm #1204364307I think Ozark will come out next Spring. Not only might they not be ready on time for a 2021 premiere but I can only imagine Netflix will want the best possible awards position for one of their biggest awards players and audience hits.
I really hope they don’t wait that long. They edit the footage as it’s sent to LA, so it’s very possible that the first seven could be ready soon. And they’ve never really held it for the perfect awards friendly date before. It’s always come out around 9-10 months after filming starts, basically as soon as it was ready. We’ve already waited 16 months, It’s hard to imagine they’d hold it for another 8-10 months further. Especially when they have another seven episodes wrapping up in the next few months.
July 26, 2021 at 1:34 pm #1204364207I kept digging and found that info about the filming episode 11 thing. It’s from an Ozark facebook group. The admin posted it, but it’s just a fan group so I don’t know how credible the info would be. The post said:
FILMING UPDATE:
Episode 11 is currently shooting with Laura Linney’s directing debut.
However episode 10 is next to be shot as these two episodes were switched for scheduling.
They are still on schedule to wrap early to mid October. Still no further word on any premiere date.I’m not sure why it would take 11 months (initially they were reported to be wrapping in July) to film 14 episodes… I remember Bateman saying they normally film an episode in two weeks. In the comments section someone asked if the first 7 episodes will come out earlier, and the original poster replied “that’s the rumor. Hopefully in the next three months or so. I’d imagine we would have some trailer/announcement video coming by end of summer..hopefully” Again, no idea if this person is correct or not, though they claim to have a source on set.
ETA: In a post from March the same admin posted:
First block of episodes through episode 3 should be wrapped in about a week or so. Multiple shutdowns and slower production schedule and hours have affected the original schedule which was planned through August, but now could be looking closer to October.
So maybe they are just really behind. I hope they can at least get the first seven out soon, that person seems very confident it will be this year, at least.
July 26, 2021 at 11:08 am #1204363951Yeah, true. In the past they’ve shot two at a time to coordinate the many different locations they alternate between, but this year with all of the new protocols it could be pretty different.
I’ve tried to look up that earlier posted info about them shooting episode 11 to no avail, I wish the person posted a source.
July 26, 2021 at 7:00 am #1204363514I saw this on the twitter timeline and don’t know the source of the information, but apparently Laura Linney will make her directorial debut in Season 4 of Ozark. It may be false, but I was happy with this possibility and wanted to post it here.
Yes, Laura mentioned back in February that she was going to direct for Ozark. I’m surprised that no media reporters picked up on it then or since then, but it’s happening.
Link to her mentioning it in an audio interview
It is strange if it’s true that they’re only on episode 11 now, though. Maybe that report was from a while ago? Because they were supposed to film from November to July, so they’d be quite a bit behind the initial schedule if they’re only on 11 now.

– Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Fay)
– Lead Actress in a Single Role (3x: The Neon Ceiling, Columbo: Ransom for a Dead Man, Judd for the Defense)
– Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Peyton Place)
– Supporting Actress in Comedy-Variety, Variety or Music (The Shape of Things)
– Supporting Actress in a Mini-series/TV Movie (Citizen Cohn)Though in terms of today’s categories it would have been six, since the Judd for the Defense nomination was a one-episode guest appearance in a longer running series.
ReplyAugust 24, 2020 at 3:20 pm #1203665275Considering the person who has been second in actress and third in actor in his predictions at this point has ended up winning I hope this doesn’t mean that Olivia Colman ends up winning over Laura Linney.
Has he done an update since three days ago though, because the mid-voting list he posted on the 21st actually had Aniston first.
Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show)
Laura Linney (Ozark)
Olivia Colman (The Crown)
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve)
Sandra Oh (Killing Eve)
Zendaya (Euphoria)It’s just the opinion of one person though, and he clearly doesn’t have the best track record.
August 23, 2020 at 7:34 am #1203662337I feel like talk of narrative is overrated with the Emmys. When someone wins, it’s pretty easy to come up with a narrative as to why they did. If narratives mattered that much Sandra Oh, Christina Hendricks, Amy Poehler (for Parks), Steve Carrell, Cicely Tyson (for HTGAWM), Angela Lansbury, etc would all be winners.
If Linney does win people will probably justify her win by saying her narrative all along was that she was the most logical place to award Ozark, even though most have been saying she has no narrative this year.
August 21, 2020 at 4:31 am #1203658176HBO ordered Succession Season 1 in May 2017, they started filming in November 2017, and aired in June 2018. That means a seven month gap between filming and airing. Season 2 was ordered in June 2018 itself, and if we assume it was filmed in December 2018, that means an 8-9 month gap until airing in August 2019. Jesse Armstrong most recently said that they’re trying to start filming around Christmas this year, so I see no way S3 meets the eligibility deadline.
Ozark S4 starts filming on November 9. I believe S3 also started filming in November last year, and aired at the end of March. If they’re shooting all 14 episodes together then they might need extra production time, so you can add 1-3 months to S3’s production time. Which would mean airing just before the eligibility deadline.
Each Season of Killing Eve has taken 9-10 months of production from start of filming to premiering. S3’s filming has been delayed indefinitely, so it most definitely is not meeting the 2021 Emmy deadline.
Ozark will have Bateman, Linney and Garner in the conversation if they meet the deadline, but The Crown will be the most relevant show in the Acting categories, and that support will probably seep over to the other categories. Colman, Anderson, and O’Connor are 100% guaranteed nominations in my book. Menzies and Corrin are extremely extremely likely, and so is HBC probably (my only reservation is that I don’t see her having anything to do in S4, all her storylines have been exhausted). Charles Dance and Freddie Fox are also likely happening in Guest Actor.
Ozark actually started filming season 3 last summer, I believe in late June. It usually is released about 9-10 months after filming starts. But since they’re only releasing seven in the first half of the season, I guess it’s possible. They could maybe work faster in post if Netflix really wants it out in time for Emmy consideration. But with potential unexpected COVID delays, it’s hard to say.
