DiCaprio for me. That whole “movie within a movie” scene was phenomenally acted from him. His subplot was also the most entertaining.

Which people could be nominated in all three pop categories. Not winning all cause I don’t think that’s happening but could anybody even get nominations across the board
Taylor’s the only one I can think of. Post or The Weeknd could get namechecked in Pop Duo, but I doubt that happens.

I actually agree with epiphany that “exile” will probably make it into Pop Duo, since that category’s weak and doesn’t have very many obvious contenders. “exile” is still one of the biggest hits from the biggest album of the year, which may win AOTY, and it peaked higher than most other Pop Duo contenders at #6 even without a single push, which is insane.
Most other predictions feel like wishful thinking. If the World was Ending peaked too low and too early: it won’t make it in. Julia Michaels hasn’t even been nominated in Pop before. My Oh My also peaked too early, and Camilla only makes it in for smash hits. Take What You Want would be a great nominee, but it’s completely forgotten now, and I think Post will probably submit that one to the Rock field. None of Christina’s songs have made any noise. And all the other potential nominees are ineligible due to the 1-nominee rule.

I think it’s reasonable to say that Holland could be nominated over Hanks. Kaluuya (or Stanfield if Kaluuya gets moved to Supporting) will for sure be nominated, but hanks could easily missed, just like he has several times before (including once for a Greengrass film, after making all of the precursors).

Now where is cyberfunk and moron seven? Don’t you have to say something about this? You called somebody trumpian and racist based on his musical taste, where are your great minds now?
Let’s make one thing clear: I am no fan of Trump at all. But everyone is entitled to their own political opinions and no one should be judged or threatened or told to disappear for having them. If everyone who votes Republican is labeled a terrible person by the other side, then that’s not democracy.
I would say the same thing if it was a right-winger saying “Taylor should leave the music industry because she hates Trump”.

Hopefully Trump loses and Gabby Barrett retires from music permanently after her president is out of the house. A DREAM.
I’m really not into this “let’s make fun of people for their political opinions” thing. Trump is a bad man and you can shit on him all you want, but this is a free country and no one should be insulted for their political opinions and choices. Otherwise we’re no better than he is.

Some screeners of Soul have been sent out. It’s definitely winning.
So Disney is committed to releasing it this year. That’s good. I still hope it comes out on Disney Plus, because I don’t want to have to go to theaters to see this film right away.

Anyway, I’ve been doing some research into Animated Films as well this year and you forgot to mention two potential nominees: Over the Moon and Wish Dragon. Both are Chinese animated films that are being produced by Sony Pictures, and are set to release in both the US and China on Netflix in 2020. I think at least one of these will make it in, since Netflix got Klaus in last year when everyone wasn’t expecting it.
Connected (if it releases in 2020)
alts: The Croods 2 and Over the Moon

Evangelion 3.0+1.0: There’s not even a release date for this and in no way is this getting nominated, but an Evangelion film getting an Oscar nomination would be fucking hilarious.
End of Evangelion deserved to win some Oscars in 1997! It just makes you wish they didn’t completely ignore Animated Films, much less Foreign Animated Films.

Pop Smoke is definitely ahead for Rap Album. I do think they’ll nominate Juice WRLD somewhere; probably for Godzilla with Eminem.
I think Juice Wrld is ahead. He had the 2nd biggest sales debut of the year, and more critical acclaim. Plus his songs did better on Billboard.

All I’m hoping for is the trifecta of Mandalorian Season 2, The Boys Season 2, and Cobra Kai Season 3 to make it into Best Drama Series. Though all 3 shows are great enough that they deserve other nominations above the line (give William Zabka and Carl Urban Emmy noms already!).

Nah, Murray’s not close to being a lock or even safe. Letterboxd’s films score is kinda meh and the category could be entirely filled with performances from BP contenders, which On the Rocks is not.
It usually isn’t though. Last year had two Supporting Actor nominees from films that weren’t nominated for Best Picture, for example.
And while the films reviews have been so-so, Bill Murray has been receiving a lot of acclaim. So I think this qill be a Tom Hanks in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood type of situation.
