Daniel Kaluuya…..I saw Judas & the Black Messiah last Saturday and then saw The Little Things on Sunday. Kaluuya does a great job but is a lead actor. Jared Leto is truly a supporting actor and also does a great job. Too bad he may miss out on a nomination due to category fraud.
ReplyFebruary 12, 2021 at 4:14 pm #1204039599Fortunately I don’t see lots of bad movies but, for me, the worst one I saw this year was Capone.
ReplyFebruary 10, 2021 at 2:19 pm #1204035937Helen Hayes should not have won for “Airport”. Her costar Maureen Stapleton was superior……as was Karen Black in “Five Easy Pieces”. I would have ranked Hayes third above Sally Kellerman (MASH) & Lee Grant (The Landlord)……but really the race should have been between Stapleton & Black with (in my opinion anyway) Stapleton winning.

ReplyJanuary 10, 2021 at 3:25 pm #1203974901O’Neal was definitely lead. I still hoped Madeline Kahn would have won on Oscar night. She deserved to. I don’t think Tatum O’Neal would have been nominated in the Lead Actress category because every one who was nominated deserved her spot. I consider that year the best ever for Lead Actress. Glenda Jackson deserved her win but so did the other nominees – Ellen Burstyn, Barbra Streisand, Joanne Woodward and my choice Marsha Mason.

For example Miranda Lambert & her husband were at one table, and then Luke Combs and his wife would be at the next one (socially distanced). The Oscars could work like this with only nominees, their guest(s) & the presenters in attendance.
ReplyDecember 30, 2020 at 12:48 pm #1203953560Shirley MacLaine’s win for this was totally expected. It would have been a shock if anyone else had won.
ReplyDecember 15, 2020 at 10:03 am #1203922414I have never had a problem with Art Carney winning his Oscar for “Harry & Tonto”. It was a great year for acting in all categories and I’m sure this one was close. Valerie Perrine should have gone supporting for “Lenny” and likely would have won in that category.
