Anyone know anything about whether the Chris Pine film ‘Newsflash’ will come out this year?
ReplyFebruary 3, 2021 at 12:37 am #1204015776pls the incoming mess
i’m not ready
I’m scared about the inevitable snubs…
January 27, 2021 at 1:03 am #1204004543Spike’s hissy fit after Green Book won will come back to bite him. Can easily see many Oscars voters snubbing the rather lame D5B.
A year later he was presenting Bong Joon-ho with his Oscar. I didn’t see anyone complain.
January 23, 2021 at 3:20 am #1203997225Tbh i expect it to be Blurry as hell between Psycho-Thriller and Psycho-Horror so they could pull a Black Swan or Get Out for their leads, at least. A blurry Horror-Thriller movie is something that The Academy keen to embrace (Get Out and Black Swan). Besides, their Period Pieces label perhaps would be enough to pass the Academy though we never know lol.
As for now, I dont think Soho will be a straight supernatural horror that the Academy wouldnt embrace normally (“Us”, “Hereditary”)
Yeah and this is why I’m fairly confident in it but… since it’s somewhat a horror/thriller you can’t deny the chance that it may just go ignored for that reason.

January 22, 2021 at 9:05 am #1203996054Is there even any way this doesn’t at least get into the Globes and BAFTA? I mean of course it could be awful (although I don’t see how that’s possible with Wright) but the hype, the buzz and the bait should be enough to get in at the Globes. And the Britishness enough for it at BAFTA lol.
It’s a psychological horror film so there is always a world where it gets ignored entirely. That being said, I’m fairly confident.

Feeling the same. The HFPA will probably want to nominate her.
January 21, 2021 at 1:49 pm #1203995023I dropped this dull mess a long time ago.
I’m not predicting it, I just wouldn’t be that surprised to see it happen.
January 21, 2021 at 1:09 pm #1203994985Watched News of the World and it honestly wasn’t as bad as I expected. It’s no Ford v Ferrari but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it get a Best Picture nomination anyway, along with a selection from Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Score and/or Sound.

No Time to DieJanuary 20, 2021 at 11:45 am #1203993398I really don’t get the don’t look up predictions am i missing something with the don’t look up predictions i don’t care if he movie got Leonardo DiCaprio Jennifer Lawrence Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchet im excited to see it but a movie like that is neveeeeeeeerrrrrr gonna get anything besides a visual effects Oscar nom its literally is not Oscar material more a golden globe thing.
I’m also not buying into it. Adam McKay hasn’t had any awards success outside of biopics, and if it is a true comedy I am nowhere near as convinced it’s even a contender as everyone else.
January 20, 2021 at 11:41 am #1203993388Rigg or Taylor-Joy?
Meant Rigg but I guess Taylor-Joy could, maybe.
January 20, 2021 at 3:56 am #1203992832It’s not getting nine noms. Next year is going to be way too competitive.
I know. Just listing all possibilities really.
January 20, 2021 at 3:52 am #1203992822Stopped paying attention to the Actress conversation on this site for… obvious reasons… but part 25?? Sheesh.
