I think Tarantino’s final project will secure him the Oscar for Best Director.

I still don’t get how John David Washington didn’t get in for BlacKkKlansman. He was the star of the movie. He should have replaced Rami Malek.

I think she is this generation’s Katherine Hepburn.

Hindsight is 20/20, or at least it should be, because I still predicted Boseman.
I was shocked when Olivia won because she wasn’t campaigning. Yet that was when I knew that BAFTA was important as all hell.
So I was a lot more prepared for a Hopkins win even though I thought I predicted Boseman.

For the people saying that Best Actor being last to honor Chadwick and it’s a disgrace…..let’s take this as the Oscars honoring a legend winning his second Oscar, and for an excellent performance.
Vitriol is something that the king would not want.

I think I’m going to put Andra at #2. I’m feeling a bit more confident in Carey, but the anonymous ballots going for her and the surprise bit of momentum Andra has shows some passion.
Plus (and again, I know this doesn’t mean much in the long run), losing Indie Spirits hurts Viola and Frances.

We can knock off one page easily. Im going against my brain with mulligan ad selecting viola. Anybody has the balls to make this a super bet?
I actually have made a super bet for Carey. Call me crazy, but hey, this race is crazy.

This season, I’ve stated that Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was too weak to win BOTH Lead Actor and Lead Actress and be the first film to achieve this in nearly 25 years.
What if The Power Of The Dog has that power? Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst could both theoretically win. It depends on how well received the film is and how strong other performances or narratives are (like Bradley Cooper for his first or Denzel Washington for his third).

I am inching closer and closer to Anthony…..
1) Those ballots saying “Chadwick will win, but I will vote for Anthony” are telling. This may not be everyone, but it may be enough to topple Chadwick.
2) That BAFTA win.
3) Riz Ahmed winning Indie Spirit over Chadwick. That doesn’t SAY much, but it does show waning interest in rewarding Chadwick in general, which may be echoed in the Oscars.
4) Ma Rainey buzz is dying down in general. Meanwhile The Father is getting a lot of buzz.
5) In general, I can see some people wanting to give Anthony a second Oscar.
Right now, I still have Chadwick, but I have 2 days. I might switch to Anthony between now and when voting closes.

Mank is one of those movies that will grow in estimation and reputation amd hold up over time, regardless of the fleeting momentum during this forgettable awards season.
I doubt it. It’s more likely going to go the route of The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

I’m thinking about the music categories…
Before COVID-19 happened, people were wondering who would win Best Song- Billie Eilish for No Time To Die or Lin Manuel-Miranda for In The Heights.
I wonder if the Oscars will give Best Song to Billie, then give Best Score to Lin for either Vivo or (more likely) Encanto.

I think we need to consider how much campaigning affects things now. Sure, Viola is campaigning a lot, but so was SBC at the beginning of the season for Supporting Actor. And yet Daniel pulled off a clean sweep at the end and is set to win.
