Torv has been bumped up to supporting.
I’m curious, what makes you say this? Is it official, or just because she’s there in the prediction center? Cause I think there are quite a few guest performers in supporting right now in the center. I mean, Anna Torv is credited in 3 of the 8 episodes that have aired thus far, so even if she is in the finale she is under the 50% cut off. Fiona Shaw and Andy Serkis are also listed in supporting for Andor in the center, even though the former is only credited for 5/12 episodes and the latter is in 3/12. So I really think it’s just things being entered into the prediction center early and erroneously. If HBO Max and Disney+ do indeed submit these guest performers in supporting, they will be shooting themselves in the foot and throwing away potential noms for some truly outstanding and deserving guest performances.

What show would she have been in contention for? Genuinely curious, cause I’m a big fan of her and hadn’t heard about anything except her upcoming role in The Last of Us.

This is so true, it’s kinda weird. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen season 1, but I feel like Harvey Guillen was the initial highlight for me. Then with season 2 it was Matt Berry (specifically cause of Jackie Daytona), and with season 3 it was Kayvan Novak. This season is definitely Natasia’s, even if I think she hasn’t always been used the best this season.
Also, like someone said earlier in the thread I feel like with this season especially I’m laughing more at how the actors are reading their lines than the actual lines themselves. And the visuals have never been worse, IMO, which of course is mainly cause of how much they’re using Baby Colin Robinson. (Though the lighting and green screen use in other scenes has also really felt off) I much prefer this show’s use of practical effects, like the suit they use for The Ancient One instead of CGI.

This was my biggest issue with the ep. I liked it a lot, but the recasting of Don Harvey with Pat Healy really took me out of it. I didn’t really have any problems with his performance, but I hadn’t heard beforehand that he was being recast, so it took me a solid 5 minutes to realize it was actually supposed to be the same character. I just couldn’t reconcile it in my head cause they’re very different actors. It’s just especially noticeable to me since this show is usually so great at being able to bring back the same actors for even the most insignificant seeming roles (though I realize it had to do with scheduling and contract issues).
ReplyJuly 18, 2022 at 8:40 am #1205018162but even more so for Legion
Facts! I was so impressed by her in that show, that I automatically get excited about any project she’s in now.
July 17, 2022 at 12:33 pm #1205017696I hope we give the win to Sarah Goldberg, especially after the Emmys did her dirty like that.
ReplyJuly 12, 2022 at 9:22 pm #1205013410I just saw an article on Indiewire heralding Zendaya for making history as the youngest 2-time acting nominee…as if Millie Bobby Brown doesn’t exist…

Kinda ridiculous to me that an awards site wouldn’t take the 2 seconds to verify before publishing that article, lol.July 11, 2022 at 8:51 am #1205008916I want to watch Evil and For All Mankind, but I haven’t been able to get through either of their first seasons. It’s not even that I disliked anything about them, so idk what the problem is. They just haven’t connected with me for some reason I guess.
June 15, 2022 at 11:42 am #1204984436I noticed that things like Time and Why Didn’t They Ask Evans were added to the prediction center, does that mean BritBox is submitting stuff this year? Have they ever before??
June 15, 2022 at 11:35 am #1204984406Yes, directors only have one shot to appear across all directing categories unless the other submission is shared with someone else, like Sam Miller last year.
I’m pretty sure that’s incorrect. It’s just that one director can’t be submitted twice for the same show unless one is a shared submission. Levinson can still submit for both Dopesick and The Survivor, he just wouldn’t be able to submit twice for Dopesick. Someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s how I’ve always understood the rule.

June 12, 2022 at 1:19 pm #1204980957I’ve been watching some old episodes of Mary Tyler Moore, an old Emmys “legend” that I really suggest people try out if they’ve never seen it. Of course it’s dated – it first aired in 1970 – but the top notch ensemble and well drawn characters are still great, and you can feel how progressive it would have been for the era. Last time I watched it, it was alongside The Morning Show, and the whole newsroom theme was such an interesting contrast.
I wish I could give this 1000 likes! I watched both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show for the first time last year, and was FLOORED by how much I fell in love with the casts and the writing (honestly more so than with a lot of more contemporary shows). I’ve rewatched so much of each show since then and it never gets old or fails to make my laugh and smile. I’m heartbroken that none of the cast of TMTMS is with us anymore.
ReplyJune 6, 2022 at 7:19 pm #1204974566Edi Patterson should be the Supporting Actress front runner for the Righteous Gemstones & it sucks that HBO is doing the bare minimum campaigning for the show beyond a couple interviews with Danny McBride. They really drop the ball on one of their best programs
Completely agree 😊, but can’t like the post! She, and the show overall, are so great and HBO is totally sleeping on them. Which is weird since it felt like when this season was airing, they were targeting it towards Succession fans (or maybe that was just me?)
June 5, 2022 at 1:18 am #1204973008In terms of the US though, it’s completely different because if I’m not mistaken, it’s on Acorn, which is very, very fringe. Brits can see this easily. Americans can’t.
Exactly. This is why I’m questioning if it will even make it into TV Movie.
Edit: is it just me, or would they have been better off going the Elizabeth Is Missing route and submitted it for International Emmys? I don’t really know the rules, but I assume Help would’ve been eligible there like the former was?
June 2, 2022 at 7:33 am #1204970556Hacks is something I feel that’s actually being overestimated somewhat because some seem to think it’s locked for multiple ATL awards already, which couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Wish I could like this!!
