Nah, he still lost DGA. He was no Ben Affleck.

SN replied to the topic What can we learn from this year’s Oscars? in the forum Movies 3 months ago
I agree we have to wonder if it fits the current situation, but I don’t think we should wonder why it exists.
CODA broke a lot of stats for a very good reason. It wasn’t a competitive contender in the nominations phase and came out of nowhere when Apple started a massive campaign that easily defeated the divisive frontrunner. If the surge…[Read more]

Not divisive, but still more admired than loved.

They simply didn’t have the right contender yet. All their nominees so far have been divisive among general audiences, no matter critically acclaimed they were. All they need is something accessible and praised. There’s a reason why The Crown is their most successful show awards-wise. It’s something that both audiences and critics…[Read more]

SN replied to the topic The Power of the Dog. What Went Wrong? in the forum Movies 3 months ago
It was always a weak frontrunner. It seemed to be undeniable merely because the other nominees were lacking.
Then CODA came with an insanely aggressive campaign (the cast went to the White House!) in the last minute and stole the moment.

No, what’s done is done. Regardless of what he did, they were the ones who decided to award him in the first place.

It managed to be worse than last year.

At least my score will be somewhat decent.
Should’ve stayed with Dune in Cinematography.

Despite the Dune sweep, I still think TPOTD is winning Cinematography so it won’t go home with Director and nothing else.

Dune would’ve had such a magnificent sweep live.
Fuck ABC and the producers.

Dune is not winning six categories. Not even Gravity and Mad Max got that amount of crafts praise.

Like many here, I’m considering not watching the ceremony for the first time since I started following film awards.
I can no longer stand the annoying games, unfunny jokes and the overall rich people circlejerk. And just to know that eight categories will be announced via Twitter is a huge turn off.
