Watching BoJack Horseman for the first time, had only seen Free Churro. I’m on season 2 now and it’s so good! Will probably watch Mindhunter S2 and The Dark Crystal nextOctober 22, 2019 at 1:31 pm #1203147968
I didn’t see anywhere confirmation that Barry isn’t returning in time for the next Emmy cycle. Filming starts this December, which is later than last year’s filming, but besides that, I haven’t seen anything about the delay.
In this interview from October 4th, Henry Winkler mentions they start filming in March: https://youtu.be/C3x2-lvLQ0A?t=81October 7, 2019 at 1:38 pm #1203126309
I wonder if Modern Family could take Barry’s slots if the rumors of it returning in 2021 are true.
Henry Winkler said in a recent interview that Barry season 3 starts filming in march, so 2020 seems possible, but not in time for the emmys.October 4, 2019 at 2:51 am #1203120580
Interesting, because in Europe I would say it is completely the opposite. Not sure if other folks from our continet can confirm this, but I would say HBO and HBO Go is far more popular and “accessible” than Amazon Prime.
I live in Norway, and HBO Nordic is more popular than Amazon Prime here. But I don’t think I’ve seen a single ad for Barry outside the HBO Nordic twitter/instagram, who barely ever mention it, and it never makes it onto the ‘most popular this month’-lists. I’ve seen a little more talk about Fleabag, one of our largest newspapers did a podcast episode about it, but that’s about it. I’ve had one person ask me if I knew about Fleabag, I’ve not had anyone mention Barry without me introducing them to the series first.October 3, 2019 at 11:45 am #1203119436
Barry. But I think Fleabag is great tooOctober 2, 2019 at 9:35 am #1203117611
Based on IMDB votes, Barry is indeed the least popular along with Schitt’s Creek:
This is really interesting, didn’t realise Russian Doll had that many votes.
Looking at the average episode votes for the eligible emmy season (episode with most votes in parentheses), it looks a little different:
1. 1 671 – Barry (4 376 – ronny/lily)
2. 1 401 – Russian Doll (1 752 – Nothing in This World Is Easy)
3. 1 255 – Fleabag (1 669 – Episode 2.1)
4. 1 128 – The Good Place (1 563 – Janet(s))
5. 929 – Maisel (1 109 – Midnight at the Concord)
6. 580 – Veep (1 160 – Veep)
7. 159 – Schitt’s Creek (255 – Meet the Parents)
Not really sure what this means, but I found it interesting.
Are we ever going to have another hit like this four?
Silicon Valley has 106 800 votes, so I think it’s possible.September 21, 2019 at 2:03 pm #1203091156
If John Lennon sang “imagine there’s no categories, it’s easy if you try”, would you like the show? If you couldn’t call it either a comedy or a drama, if the Emmys were category-fluid, or gender liquid, would you like it then? Barry is like a heroin table in an open plan monastery. It works on its own merits. It is funny as fuck. And then it’s not. But then it is again. Often within a single line of dialogue.
I want to frame this comment and put it on my wall
Btw of all the people here who think Maisel will win, do any of you actually love it yourself as a viewer? Or are you just picking it because you think it will win, betting on the Academy members liking it?
I personally love Maisel, it was my favorite show last year until I watched Barry. I think the first season was better, but the second is still really good. Would probably rank it 3rd behind Barry and Fleabag this year, but 2nd-5th place are really close for me.September 20, 2019 at 4:46 pm #1203089804

For the people who are predicting “We’re Going to the Catskills!” (or “All Alone”) for a directing win, why do you think it will overcome vote-splitting at the emmys if it couldn’t at the DGA earlier this year?
This is a genuine question. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I just haven’t heard anyone who’s predicting it to win mention the DGA loss yet.September 18, 2019 at 3:30 pm #1203085375
I would NEVER be fine will sweet billy boy losing lead actor.
I absolutley think he deserves to(and will) win lead actor again, but if I could only pick one category for him to win this year I would choose director. If he hadn’t won the acting emmy last year I would probably feel differently.September 18, 2019 at 2:52 pm #1203085259
Bill Hader for directing ronny/lily. I would even be fine with him losing lead actor if he won for directing.September 16, 2019 at 12:54 pm #1203080656
I don’t think Barry is winning series, but I still believe Bill Hader could win Lead Actor and Directing. I don’t think there’s a strong alternative in Lead Actor, and I don’t think vote splitting will be a factor in Directing because he has the best episode and is the bigger name.September 16, 2019 at 9:01 am #1203080150
