Heather Tom makes history! And the B&B writing team takes the gold! These two wins were by far the sweetest surprises of the night! What a wonderful parting gift too for Patrick Mulcahey, whose brilliant scripts deserve all the Emmys in the world! Lead Actress was such a toss-up for me because I was rooting most for Heather, Ari or KKL to prevail and I know it sounds kind of crazy when taking into account her back-to-back Lead Actress wins, but Heather really was overdue considering the countless exceptional performances in the years since her last win.
I agree with everything you said.June 26, 2020 at 9:55 pm #1203554218
With La Rue winning I got 6/9 right. I got Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, and Lead Actress wrong (Bryton and Heather were my #2 choices so I don’t feel bad at all I’m very happy for them and I had Braun at #4). Overall I still enjoyed the Emmys.June 26, 2020 at 9:49 pm #1203554214
Im happy for Heather Tom. It’s not about who we like or who we want to win. The blue ribbon panel made their decision and let’s just accept their decision. I told y’all West wouldn’t win though (not to put salt in the wound). Me and someone else said the voters are through with all that screaming and hollering and over the top stuff. West turned in some phenomenal work but if we’re being honest Tom won for what was great story. And PS…the Emmys will never give there awards away based off a season or a years worth of material. It’s all about the reels in the end. I didn’t get mad because Annika or Katherine didn’t win. I got Drama Series, Lead Actor, Younger Performer, Writing, Directing, and Guest Performer right. I’m happy for Braun, James, Tom, Thompson, Keegan, and LaRue. They all have great performances. All this people getting robbed ordeal makes no sense. Tom didn’t steal from West or anybody. She put four episodes together and the voters loved it and they voted for her as the winner. Plain and simple.June 26, 2020 at 7:26 pm #1203554073
I got 5 out of 9 right. I told y’all Y&R would win their 11th Best Drama Series. They are the only show to win in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and now the 20s. I told y’all Jason Thompson would win Lead Actor. Heather Tom didn’t shock me. I knew it was gonna be either her or Katherine Kelly Lang. This is Heather’s 6th win. She’s now tied with Erika Slezak for the most wins by a daytime female performer. Bryton was my second pick (I was pulling for Mark Grossman) but i am so happy he won. He deserved it. Tamara was my 4th choice (I was pulling for Annika Noelle) but im happy for Braun. I was right about Olivia Rose Keegan winning Younger Performer and she totally deserved it. I was spot on about B&B winning Best drama series writing team and GH winning drama series directing team. Congratulations to all the winners.June 26, 2020 at 7:20 pm #1203554055

I still have Y&R for Best Drama and GH for Directing. Even though, I have Y&R for Writing, I have a feeling B&B will win that which wouldn’t bother me one bit.
As far as acting, I will stick to my predictions. I agree, we will probably see upsets.
Who are your acting predictions once more?June 26, 2020 at 8:24 am #1203552951
I’m just waiting for tonight to get here. The waiting has been awful
Do you find yourself going backwards and forwards on who might win? I wish we could see the whole reels because I think we’re all in for a few shockers. Maybe there’s something in certain actor’s reels we didn’t know was there. I looked up certain episodes actors picked and I enjoyed what I saw based off what certain actors said was on their reel.
I don’t remember who said something about KKL but the few times she’s been nominated Thorsten Kaye nor Hunter Tylo were in her reels nor were they even mentioned in her reels. She had Susan Flannery and Don Diamont in her reels and the storylines were different. This is the first time she’s actually had either actor in her reel and she did a hell of a job playing opposite them. If it’s her time, it’s her time. She did one hell of a job. She also has Denise Richards in her reel as well.June 26, 2020 at 8:13 am #1203552916
I saw McCoy’s reel. It was good but I looked up Keegan’s episodes and she was on fire in them as a girl slipping to the dark side. I was wowed by each scene. Calle has a good reel as well. One thing you all have to remember is emotional reels don’t always win. In most cases they do but it all depends on the range. I’ve watched interviews with certain soap actors and they said when their voting on the blue ribbon panel they want to see not only emotional stuff but they like versatility, excitement, revelations, and omg moments as well. The voters like love when a actor can keep their attention. I know it’s hard for them to pick one winner when there’s so many great reels.June 26, 2020 at 7:40 am #1203552847
I’ve already prepared myself for a few upsets and surprises. I think I’m going to go to the store to get some wine a little later. I remember when i watched the 2006 Daytime Emmys (I was 16) I was kinda tipsy and everyone I wanted to win won but Y&R didn’t win Best Drama Series over GH. The wine helped with the shock but I eventually got over it.
I’m still pulling for Y&R for best drama series but if Days wind I’ll be equally happy cause it’s my favorite soap. I’m pulling for Jason Thompson for Lead Actor but if Thorsten Kaye or Jon Lindstrom wind I’ll be ok with that decision as well. If Katherine Kelly Lang or Arianne Zucker wins Lead Actress I’ll be over the moon but if Maura West wins I’ll be ok with that because I’m a fan of her work. Supporting Actor is a tricky category. I’m pulling for Mark Grossman, Bryton James, and Chandler Massey but if James Patrick Stuart or Paul Telfer or Wally Kurth take home the gold I’ll be equally happy. Supporting Actress is another tricky one. I’m pulling for Annika Noelle but if Christel Khalil or Susan Seaforth Hayes wins I’ll be happy because I’m fans of them all. I honestly think Olivia Rose Keegan has Younger Performer in the bag but if Sasha Calle or Eden McCoy wins I’ll be ok with that decision as well. I go backwards and forwards with Best Writing but I think either B&B or Days is gonna win that award. GH has Directing in the bag. I’m just excited it’s on tv this year. Good luck to all the nominees.June 23, 2020 at 5:49 pm #1203548910
I recently saw Finola Hughes Emmy reel from 1991. What did you all think of Anna and Casey the alien?June 23, 2020 at 5:47 pm #1203548906
Yes, in her memoir she mentions those two episodes as her choices. She also said that was the only year that she really thought she would win. She said the black-and-white clip shown on the telecast felt silly out of context, but that the whole episode was very strong.
Is that black and white episode on YouTube? I saw Reva’s suicide from January 1986. Jeff Ryder must have written the black and white episode because Long left to be story consultant at SFT by Feburary 1986.June 23, 2020 at 3:40 am #1203547349
Maura West: God knows I love Maura. She’s a force of nature. Her scenes when Ava stabbing Ryan were good but I’ve never known anyone to win a Emmy for stabbing anyone. I get what Shasta is saying. The grieving mother ordeal is kinda over. Zucker has a good submission as a grieving mother who’s an imposter and I don’t know if Emmy voters voted for based off Kristen pretending to be Nicole. Tom confronted Flo about keeping the secret of Beth being alive. It was good but idk if it says Emmy gold. Maybe she put the kidney storyline in there as well. Hughes submitted an episode of Anna/Alex which was good but it doesn’t say Emmy either. Lang submitted the confrontation with Taylor and I asked her on her IG live what else she submitted and she said Brooke and Ridge’s argument about Thomas and the reveal of Beth being alive and I have to say she brought it in those episodes. I think Lang has the advantage in this category.
Lead Actor: Thorsten Kaye picked 3 good ones including Ridge arguing with Brooke about forgiving Thomas, Ridge telling Thomas he’s ashamed that he’s his father, and another scene with Brooke. It was great acting if you ask me. I wouldn’t be surprised if he won. Lindstrom picked Kevin arguing with Ryan after Ava stabbed Ryan. Good acting. I wouldn’t be totally shocked by his win. Penghlis picked Tony being visited by Nicole and Brady. It was very comedic. I heard he placed some drama in there as well. Burton picked an episode telling Jake that Liz is going to jail for a while. It was ok. It didn’t scream Emmy. Thompson picked the best reel…the standalone episode, Billy waking up in the Chancellor living room wondering how he got there, and Billy’s therapy session we’re all great. He has the best chance of winning this Emmy.
I’m not too worried about Supporting Actor because they all picked great submissions. I want Grossman to win. He was great and controlled as Adam in his scenes with Victor and Sharon. Massey was good as Will ends his marriage to Sonny. Stuart was great as Valentin in his scenes with Charlotte and Nina. James was great as a grieving Devon who list his dad and his dead wife visiting him from the grave. Kurth was great as Justin deals with fact that Adrienne’s gone and his scenes with Will were outstanding. Telfer was also great in his scenes with Sarah.
Supporting Actress: Noelle was a grieving mother in her reel but she got a happy ending and she slapped the hell out of Flo. That reel has Emmy gold all over it. Hayes has a good reel as Julie needing a heart and reminiscing with Doug. Braun was great as Kim talking to a dying Oscar. Budig was ok in her reel with Finn. Khalil broke my heart at Neil’s funeral. She also put a scene with Cane in there as well. To me Noelle and Khalil have the best two reels.
Younger Performer: I’ll just say this… Olivia Rose Keegan has the best reel and she definitely deserves a win, but I’d be on the lookout for Sasha Calle who had a good reel with Lola and Eva LaRue arguing and Lola losing Kyle to Summer. McCoy was ok. MacMullen was better than McCoy. Megia was ok too.June 23, 2020 at 12:53 am #1203547273
There’s one of Sasha Calle too on the CBS Twitter page and she killed it. I wouldn’t be upset if she won. It was just that good.June 23, 2020 at 12:51 am #1203547271
B&B did one for Thorsten Kaye and Anikka Noelle it’s on the CBS Twitter page as well. Kaye had the right range of anger at Thomas and he was heartfelt with Brooke about forgiving Thomas and Noelle showcased a great reel of hurt and anger I especially loved when she slapped Flo 😂 she definitely has my vote.
