No one compares to Azealia’s toxic energy
Does she even make music anymore?
I think her outspoken political views have really gotten in the way of any new music. I would kill for her to make more bangers, though.
ReplyFebruary 25, 2021 at 2:47 pm #1204061706I would have voted for Elephant, since it’s literally one of my favourite albums of all time, but I’m cool with the OutKast win. As for the other nominees, I enjoyed both Missy’s and Justin’s albums and I’ve never liked Evanescence that much, so I’d replace that with Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
ReplyFebruary 23, 2021 at 2:49 pm #1204057430This one should have gone to Stankonia. It’s OutKast’s masterpiece, and as audacious, brilliant, and hard-hitting as any rap album. It ranks in my top 10 of that decade. Love and Theft is another great Bob Dylan album and the best one of his later years. While All That You Can’t Leave Behind isn’t my favourite U2 album, it’s still a damn good rock record and did really good numbers. It also has some of their hardest-hitting material. I don’t mind the OBWAT soundtrack, but the artists on it have done much better work. I also don’t get why they nominated India.Arie over Alicia Keys when Alicia’s album was bigger and better and she beat India.Arie for BNA.
ReplyFebruary 22, 2021 at 4:05 pm #1204055196Radiohead was truly robbed here. Kid A is one of the best albums of the 2000s and a truly remarkable achievement. It’s downright iconic at this point. Same with The Marshall Mathers LP. It’s Eminem’s masterpiece and one of the finest rap albums of the century. I enjoyed Midnite Vultures, but it’s not his best work. I’m not a big fan of either the Steely Dan or the Paul Simon release.
ReplyFebruary 21, 2021 at 12:15 pm #1204053127Santana’s win was deserved. It was everywhere and it’s also a damn good record. I also liked TLC’s album. Millennium was a pretty good album and it was huge, so I don’t mind its nomination. As for the others, meh. The Dixie Chicks album wasn’t up to their usual standards and I don’t really like Diana Krall.
ReplyFebruary 20, 2021 at 12:36 pm #1204052055Lauryn Hill’s win was a groundbreaker and 100% deserved. The album is simply a masterpiece. Ray of Light and Version 2.0 are also great albums. I’m not the biggest Shania Twain fan, but Come on Over is a good record and sold huge, so I’m cool with it being nominated. Sheryl Crow just needs to go.
ReplyFebruary 19, 2021 at 1:29 pm #1204050537Radiohead gets my vote here. OK Computer isn’t my favourite of their albums, but it’s still a masterpiece and a milestone in music history. Can’t be mad about the Dylan win, though. It’s still an excellent piece of work and this was a good way to honor a legend. I was never a huge fan of Babyface’s music, but I get why he was nominated. McCartney didn’t really need to be here and Paula Cole should have been shut out on nominations day, if you ask me. Her music is extremely mediocre and I never got why the Recording Academy gave her so much love.
ReplyFebruary 18, 2021 at 5:23 pm #1204048998Ed is a pretty average songwriter in my opinion. He’s written some good songs and some bad songs, along with some middle-of-the-road music. He’s one of those songwriters and artists that’s just okay if you ask me.
ReplyFebruary 18, 2021 at 2:52 pm #1204048819I am absolutely voting for Beck here. Odelay is a brilliant, genre-busting masterpiece that is a milestone in the history of alt-rock and one of my all-time favorites. The Score is one of the defining rap albums of the 1990s and also a masterpiece. It’s my clear runner-up. I love the Smashing Pumpkins album and it really showcased their growth as musicians since their debut. I just found the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack to be okay. It’s good musically and I admire its intentions, but it’s just too drowsy for my tastes. The Celine Dion record is simply mediocre. Why they would vote for it in a field that included two masterpieces, one fantastic record from a great band, and a merely decent-but-still-superior soundtrack is beyond me.
ReplyFebruary 17, 2021 at 2:48 pm #1204047148Jagged Little Pill absolutely deserved this one. It’s a fabulous, iconic, career-defining record that sold hugely. Mariah’s album was good, and also a big seller, but not quite on the same level as JLP. The Pearl Jam album is awesome and my personal runner-up. MJ’s album was decent but not as great as his previous ones. Joan Osborne was just lucky to be here. TLC definitely should’ve been nominated over Osborne.
ReplyFebruary 16, 2021 at 8:36 pm #1204045579This is one mediocre lineup. The Tony Bennett album is meh, as is the Bonnie Raitt one. The Three Tenors are needless filler and From the Cradle was just okay. I enjoyed the Seal album, but that’s it from this frigging lineup. Grace, Dookie, and The Downward Spiral are all phenomenal records, especially Grace. Damn, the Grammys were stupid here.
ReplyFebruary 15, 2021 at 11:46 am #1204043295I again would have voted R.E.M here. It’s the best album they ever made and one of my favorites of the ’90s. Besides, the Bodyguard album had too much filler on it. Sting is my personal runner-up here. Janet. definitely would have been a worthy nominee and it would have been second for me had it gotten in.
ReplyFebruary 14, 2021 at 11:14 am #1204042003I’m honestly surprised they didn’t nominate Dangerous.
ReplyFebruary 14, 2021 at 11:07 am #1204041985U2 should have 100% won. Acthung Baby is a rock masterpiece and one of the best albums of the 90s. The Eric Clapton album was decent, mostly thanks to the classic “Tears in Heaven”, but it doesn’t really stand out when compared to his many superior records. The shitty Beauty soundtrack that robbed all the original songs from that movie of their magic being here is a disgrace. The Lennox and Lang albums are both solid. Overall, a decent lineup, but not one of my favorites(mostly because of the Disney soundtrack).
ReplyFebruary 13, 2021 at 10:34 am #1204040516I HATE that Cole win. I don’t care how big it was, the album itself was mediocre at best. R.E.M were robbed. Out of Time is a much more original and exciting piece of work than what actually won. It was huge as well, and has aged way better. They honestly should have swept the GF that year.
