If anyone thinks Michelle Williams performance is hammy
You really don’t know great acting. It is the performance of her career, brilliant, emotional, forceful and always nuanced. I actually think Spielberg would be thrilled if his mothers character becomes an Oscar winning role..
At this point, I’ve seen all the contenders except Robbie and Colman. I don’t think either of them is in contention. Babylon seems like a mess and Robbie’s frantic scenes in the trailer turn me off. Blanchett is not getting a 3rd Oscar at such a young age. The Oscar is between Deadwyler and Williams. Sadly, as great as Deadwyler is, it’s yet another black history lesson, and I don’t think the academy will give it to her. So, Michelle Williams, get ready to win!November 9, 2022 at 6:42 am #1205146356I can picture a scenario where Michelle Williams wins
She can get in a Fablemans wave and be carried along
It will be her 5th nomination, which is traditionally a good omen for overdue actresses..of course, Close and Adams are an exception…many actresses have won on nomination number 5…..MacLaine, Sarandon, Moore, Hayward, Taylor….
Reasons to pass on others…..
I think for Yeoh, the recognition of her acting will be the nomination
I think another Black History bio doesn’t do it for Deadwyler…practically all of the black Oscar winning actresses have won for non historical films, …..Monique, Whoopi, JHud, Nyongo, Regina King, Berry and more….
Cate Blanchett, as great as she is, join the Streep world. She can’t win for everything, no less a 3rd in a divisive film…
So….watch out for Williams to win in the end.November 7, 2022 at 7:28 am #1205144230I don’t think Viola Davis makes the cut for The Woman King
I think Danielle Deadwyler and Michelle Yeoh will be the women of colorThese 5
Deadwyler
Blanchett
Yeoh
Williams
ColmanI also think the academy has 2 viable choices and will not give Blanchett a third Oscar so soon……..
The Oscar goes to Deadwyler or Williams.
October 9, 2022 at 7:36 pm #1205113024Best Actress
Michelle Williams
Olivia Colman
Michelle Yeoh
Daniel Deadwyler
Cate BlanchettI think Williams can and will win. Streep waited 29 yrs for a third Oscar. McDormand was a mistake. Cate is mid 40’s. Kind of young for 3 Oscar’s. Yeoh can’t win for that film. Her acting seemed forced to me. Colman is in a weak film and Deadwyler is just another African American history lesson. No win there! Michelle Williams is smart to go lead on her 5th nomination….it’s a charmed number. So many actresses won on their 5th nomination. Sarandon, Moore, Hayward, Taylor….I’m sticking with Williams for the win
