First Cate Blanchett was considered to portray Lucille Ball. Then they made a switch to Nicole Kidman. Now, what they need to do is to make another switch. Debra Messing. She’ll be a way better choice than Cate and Nicole. And they need to find another actor to portray Desi. I just don’t see Javier Bardem doing that role.
How is Debra Messing better suited for the role of Lucille Ball than Kidman or Cate? This isn’t about Lucy Ricardo.January 12, 2021 at 1:43 pm #1203980192
As someone who has been following this project since its infancy, I was very disappointed when Cate dropped out. BUT I believe that the right role usually finds the right person. So Nicole Kidman getting the role, I’m good with.January 12, 2021 at 1:42 pm #1203980189
If Nicole nails this role and the movie is well recieved….this will be the role of her career thus far.December 20, 2020 at 6:22 am #1203934050
Naomi Ackie for the Whitney Houston project.December 18, 2020 at 2:39 pm #1203930831
Some of yall went in disliking the movie before the opening credits. That’s the real tea.December 17, 2020 at 8:21 pm #1203928439
I agree with this. It looks like Viola in a fat suit. Viola is not a transformative actress. She’s a theatrical actress. She can do big scenes and cry with mucus and yell. But transformation is not her thing. I would say Taraji P Henson is more transformative and she doesn’t get her due.
What does Taraji have to do with Viola Davis?December 17, 2020 at 8:05 pm #1203928410
Never did I say I wanted or expected a “lookalike contest.” I hoped for resemblance of some sort, which this is not close to being. I’m fully allowed by my own damn opinion.
you ARE allowed to your opinion….and I stated mine. There’s no need to get defensive.December 17, 2020 at 5:55 pm #1203928290
She literally looks nothing like Whitney, it’s almost a joke but again with minority casting the public is meant to believe that all black people look the same, just throw a wig on and no one will notice..
You’re comparing a picture of her in character against Whitney on stage.December 17, 2020 at 10:35 am #1203927463
She has the talent to have a Marion Cottilard/Angela Bassett star making moment. And neither of those women looked like Edith Piaf or Tina Turner
I co-sign with this choice. I care about the performance. they will make her look like Whitney somehow.December 16, 2020 at 1:34 pm #1203925555
Naomi’s casting ABSOLUTELY makes this movie sound more interesting. She’s a great actress that will bring the depth that Whitney’s story deserves.
I love unexpected casting choices.
