While I am excited about this, especially since Miguel Sapochnik is at the helm……I did like the diversity of the other show.October 29, 2019 at 11:34 am #1203157750
People also root for Renee and she is very likeable which helps.
She was amazing in Judy.October 23, 2019 at 10:20 am #1203149175

-Guillermo Del Toro is overrated
-Lady Bird was good, but nothing spectacular or memorable compared to the other best picture nominees that year
-Daniel Day-Lewis did in fact deserve to win the Oscar for Lincoln over Joaquin Phoenix for The Master
-DiCaprio should have won for Wolf Of Wall Street over McConaughey for Dallas Buyer’s Club
-Lucas Hedges>>Timothée Chalamet (CMBYN is still the best performance from either, but Timmy is a bit one note)
-Infinity War was ok at best, and Endgame was basically mediocre fanfiction
-Clint Eastwood is an otherwise average director who’s made a couple of great movies
-Trump was kinda right: Meryl Streep is a bit overrated
-Bradley Cooper is a nice guy, good looking leading man but NOT a top actor (same with Brad Pitt)
-Adam Driver might be the best working actor under 50 besides Joaquin Phoenix
-Jake Gyllenhaal isn’t as great an actor as the Internet acts like, and his ‘snub’ for Nightcrawler wasn’t really a snub at all as it wasn’t THAT great
-Timothée Chalamet is one of my favourites young actors but is seriously overrated with all those ‘Once In A Generation Talent’ articles that are written about him
-Actors shouldn’t be awarded ‘lifetime Oscars’ at the expense of more deserving performances just because they’ve never won before (eg Al Pacino winning ovwr Denzel Washington for Malcolm X, or more recently Gary Oldman for his hammy Winston Churchill role over DDL and Chalamet for Phantom Thread and Call Me By Your Name respectively)
-Inglourious Basterds>Pulp Fiction (Pulp Fiction is more quotable tho)
-Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has great acting, but was otherwise kinda boring amd not memorable
You made a few typos I believe. Chiwatel should have won….not DiCaprio. And Eastwood is a fantastic director.October 19, 2019 at 7:21 am #1203143564
Saw Judy last night. Renee was BRILLIANT and she is absolutely winningOctober 19, 2019 at 7:21 am #1203143562
Halle deserved her Oscar, got great reviews for it, and won the SAG for it for it as well. She also was on a winning streak those couple of years…..winning an Emmy and her first SAG a couple of years prior for Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. It was her time then. People like to forget that.
Also I really dislike seeing black Actresses being compared for no other reason than they are both black women in Hollywood.October 11, 2019 at 8:59 am #1203132166
I don’t know if it is unpopular or not around these parts, but Titanic is one of my favorite Best Picture winners, and one of my favorite films period. I think it is a masterclass in epic filmmaking: great set design, beautiful costumes, a memorable and emotional score, groundbreaking visual effects that still hold up, two beautiful and talented lead performers, a great performance from a actress from classic Hollywood, a ending that sticks with you. And it is a film that despite its length never manages to feel long.
All the criticisms of it fall flat for me. I just see it as perfect filmmaking.
Couldnt have said it better myself. And you are right about the editing. The film NEVER drags.September 21, 2019 at 12:36 pm #1203091012
I actually thought Renee was great in Cold Mountain, she really created a character, and wasnt Razzie worthy at all.
Also her winning this year would make up her snub for Chicago. THAT should have been her first Oscar, low key.September 18, 2019 at 10:16 pm #1203085888
I can definitely see Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington becoming film stars. The two of them are very popular, and let’s face it, they’re beautiful. Harington’s already joining the MCU and there’s rumors that they want to do a film focusing on his character, so he’s gonna be fine for awhile. Peter Dinklage will continue to be a high profile actor in roles both written for dwarves and ones that aren’t. Lena Headey will likewise resume a solid career, though, out of the 7 main cast members, I think she’ll struggle the most to get leading roles. Sophie Turner could potentially score a few big projects, but the enormous failure of Dark Phoenix won’t do her any favors. Since she already gets a lot of media attention, I can see her being more of a celebrity than an actress moving forward. Sadly, I doubt I’m gonna be seeing a whole lot of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in high profile films, but he’ll likely pop up here and there as he’s done in the past. I may be wrong, but I believe he’s been the star in a few Danish films, which will likely continue. I think Maisie Williams is a bit of a question mark. She’s hurt by the fact that she looks so young, and because I just feel like it’s gonna be harder for her to shake off Arya than the other main cast members will be able to shake off their characters. Sort of like how Linda Blair struggled to find work since everybody couldn’t get her as a possessed child out of their heads, I think a lot of people won’t be able to think of Williams not being obsessed with revenge and murdering people. I know she’s had a few projects under her belt by now, so maybe she’ll be alright.
Like I’ve said for the majority of them, she Maisie needs to do a few comedies….exactly what Emelia is doing. That will helpSeptember 18, 2019 at 9:34 am #1203084327
Another thing Renee has in her favor is that people really like her are rooting for her….ala Sandra Bullock.September 17, 2019 at 8:57 pm #1203083509
1) Zellweger has the best performance, but a bad movie that will only get 1 nomination and potentially will flop at the BO.
2) Scarjo has a soft performance in a Netflix film that’s top 3 BP contender.
3) Theron will have the second best performance and the transformation of the year in a movie that could get 3-8 nominations.
4) Ronan will have the Ronan Academy friendly performance.
5) Diversity nom ( Awkwafina, Lupita, Cynthia Erivo, Alfre Woodard)
Are you saying that minority will only be nominated to fill a quota?September 17, 2019 at 3:49 pm #1203083111
