Ariana’s faith will depend a lot on how the era holds up in the next few months and how the next singles perform. Positions will probably be quite forgotten when 2022 voting comes around, but I still think she will be able to pick up 1/3 name-check pop nominations depending on how she submits. Motive or Safety Net would be great for Pop Duo if she pushes them.November 28, 2020 at 8:01 am #1203879565
If Weeknd completely tanked like that in a straight vote then he wouldn’t have been a threat to Taylor. I definitely think they blocked artists like Brittany to set Taylor up though.
Yeah I agree with this. Even if the BRP decided to select The Weeknd in some GF categories he would have still been a non-factor this year given how he bombed in pop, just like Post Malone.
Howard would have definitely been competitive given her cross-genre support though.November 28, 2020 at 7:17 am #1203879465
Beyoncé should have won for her self-titled, Kendrick deseverved for DAMN. Gaga is also extremely overdue for GF wins but I think she never deserved AOTY out of the times she was nominated. She should have won ROTY for Bad Romance though, really a bad choice on the panel’s side to block that from the GF, it would have been highly competitive.November 28, 2020 at 7:09 am #1203879441
I’m still not buying Ledisi winning. I mean the fact that she never won despite 12 nominations is more of a disadvantage than a bonus. If there never was enough passion for her to win I doubt there’ll be this year.
Chloe X Halle are fresh, talented and are campaigning hard. Not to mention that this could be the only chance they have given how Black Parade and Chilombo are practically locked for Song and Progressive R&B. Also adding the fact that Traditional R&B has recently favoured more contemporary/new artists, I’m betting on them for the win.November 27, 2020 at 2:04 pm #1203878057

One thing that I’m grateful about is that the Country panel, between the new artists, decided to reward Guyton and Andress that are actually extremely talented and worthy instead of Wallen and Barrett who are awful people and made really mediocre country music. And the country panel also snubbed Combs! They were truly the best this year.
So yeah, cheers to that!November 26, 2020 at 1:05 pm #1203875740

I have Brittany beating Fiona in Alt album because she was able to get the engineering nod whereas Fiona missed. Is that an unreasonable assumption?
I had the same thought. I currently have Brittany winning Alternative Album and Rock Performance while Fiona wins Rock Song.November 26, 2020 at 2:42 am #1203874394
Collier will probably end up in the top 3 of the final AOTY voting. He is a 4 time Grammy winnner in the arrangement categories and he could get a lot of support from the voters of smaller genres.November 26, 2020 at 2:14 am #1203874366
exile is winning this easily. Its main hurdle was getting nominated given how it’s only an album track, but at this point I don’t see anything else beating it.
ROM will probably be second due to the combination of pop faves Gaga and Ariana. Dynamite is nice but the nomination was its reward. Un Dia is this year’s Boyfriend, pure filler. Intentions is not happening, especially after his little R&B rant on Insta.November 25, 2020 at 1:33 pm #1203873100
I LOVE that we live in a world where Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift will split the GF at the Grammy’s.November 25, 2020 at 11:42 am #1203872801
It kills me that The Gift, Beyonce’s least successful project (even being a side one), is her most Grammy nominated with 9, up there with IASF. Honestly, probably even 10 if she had waited and submitted it to AOTY, lmfao
Didn’t Lemonade also get 9?
Btw Sasha Fierce got 10 if you want to count Halo (Live) in 2011 and the tour film in 2012. It’s truly impressive how much the Grammy’s loved that album.November 25, 2020 at 9:04 am #1203872029
BNA is either Megan, Doja, Phoebe or Ingrid. I truly wouldn’t be surprised with anyone of them.
Megan has the rap support, Doja has Pop, Ingrid has Country and Phoebe has rock/alternative. It’s one of the most exciting races of the year.November 25, 2020 at 8:49 am #1203871986
I think you win an Album of the Year Grammy as a featured artist.
No. It used to be this way (hence why Colbie Caillat won with Fearless, Rihanna was nominated for Views and Recovery, Beyoncé for The Fame Monster, Lightbody and Sheeran for Red etc.) but they changed the rule in 2018. Featured artists are not credited for AOTY.November 25, 2020 at 8:43 am #1203871958
I just listened to the whole ROTY and SOTY line-ups and I must say the panel did a great job with both of them. All great songs that actually fit the categories meaning really well.
One of the nominees I’m more happy about is honestly ITWWE because I’ve been one of the first supporters of the song in this site.
