– Ambika Mod (This is Going To Hurt)
– Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story)
– Sarah Pidgeon (Tiny Beautiful Things)

way too hard on it (the same applies to quite a few series this Emmy cycle in fairness)
Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux and Lena Headey should all be picking up nominations. Probably Kathleen Turner too.

He should though. There aren’t 6 supporting performances that are better.

May 30, 2023 at 1:01 pm #1205445713I don’t think Severance will be out this year either. Apple TV+ still look to have a strong slate though so I don’t think it really matters if Severance has an early or Spring 2024 release.

Agree. Both leads were very, good and both well deserving of nominations, but if the supporting cast pick up nominations it will be by virtue of appearing in the right show as opposed to anything notable about their performances.

ReplyMay 30, 2023 at 9:06 am #1205445428I’m honestly praying for older female voters to surprise us with a really tasteful 8th slot like Bad Sisters or The Diplomat (unsure how well-liked this show is on here but I definitely prefer it to shows like House of the Dragon and The Last of Us). The Crown makes sense as a recipient of that demographic’s passion as well, and I do wonder if I’m underpredicting it at the moment.
I liked The Diplomat and I think it’s chances are being a little undersold on here.
I can easily see it getting in due to a good combo of visibility/popularity and positive response. I also noticed quite a few writers tweeting about it so it’s not necessarily just a Keri Russell thing.
The Diplomat could very well be number 1 pick for a lot of the older female voters referenced above.

Reply
– Better Call Saul

– For All Mankind
– The White Lotus
– The BoysMay 30, 2023 at 6:44 am #1205445319A good finale to finish an overall enjoyable series that ended a lot stronger than it started.
If voters are watching, Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Lena Headey and possibly Kathleen Turner will all be nominated. Headey, arguably gave the strongest performance of WHP – she was great. Unfortunately they may not be watching. Harrelson is probably most likely to get in and his performance improved as the series improved and was very good in the last 2 episodes.
This should actually be a win competitive let alone a nominee in various crafts, and that may be where the right people are watching and it picks up some well deserved recognition.
May 28, 2023 at 10:38 pm #1205444209Not that I’m necessarily predicting this, but I honestly think there’s more chance J. Smith-Cameron misses out on a nomination altogether than actually wins.
I think people might be slightly overestimating the actors branch love in for Succession versus underestimating their obvious passion for The White Lotus.
May 28, 2023 at 10:12 pm #1205444192I never believed any of Kendall, Roman or Shiv were going to “win” – I feel it’s probably mainly their stans who convinced themselves otherwise.
