and so you are right! I was completely mistaken! This episode aired in 1996, so I’m guessing it was nominated in 1997 and the 24th Daytime Emmy Awards? or was it at the 23rd in 1996? I can’t remember if the eligibility period back then was based on the calendar year or if it was on a different timeline?

I see these as less cliches and more staples of the genre. But I think the biggest offender among soaps is “back from the dead” Honestly even if you see a body they still come back from the dead often!

I literally watch this clip at least three times a year! One of Lucci’s best performances ever, and oddly enough one of the rare seasons she wasn’t nominated for.

In 2001, I was all about AMC and OLTL. They were my favorites at the time. I liked GH but was finding it a bit stale at that point.

I’ve always assumed that she just simply stopped submitting herself for consideration or she had made some enemies with the powers that be at ABC, maybe they found her too difficult to work with and decided not to campaign for her at all.

My vote would have gone to Michael Sutton in a landslide, with Damon in second place and Ver Dorn in third. I’m not familiar enough with the other actors work to rank them.

Which reminds me of another thought I had: It’s long past time for Robin and Patrick (or even Robin w/out Patrick) to return to the show. Enough time has past I think that they could recast this pivotal role. I know they won’t but maybe it’s time to pass the torch since Kimberly M seems content to not act anymore.
