I mean you can get rid of the jury if you want, but then you shouldn’t complain when it’s a repeat of the Golden Globes nominees. And that’s fine I guess. But if there is jury, Colman as much of a “victim” as Kidman, Chastain and Stewart. Because if you miss top 2, you no longer have a right to be nominated, it’s going to come down to the jury and their intended mission of supporting diversity and indie work.
i literally never complained about that but you do youFebruary 6, 2022 at 11:38 am #1204779801
She is not a victim, sorry. None of the other frontrunners were saved by the Jury? Why should she have a special treatment? If anything, BAFTA would come off as biased if they started saving big names that are not POC or indie. The purpose of the jury is to support diversity and indie actresses, who usually don’t have as much buzz as the frontrunners.
istg i cant believe we circled back to this argument once again. i am not opposed the idea of jury i very much support it but i don’t like the wy they snub deserving people especially if its one of their own in order to gain more traction on social mediaJanuary 19, 2022 at 11:46 am #1204738579
If Kristen gets nominated at BAFTA (Feb 3rd) and then wins LFCC (Feb 7th) then she could really emerge as a Dark horse to win the Oscar. I am not personally predicting her to win BAFTA or LFCC (I’m expecting Colman to take both) but it’s certainly a possibility.
tbh i think that’s a really small possibility because we all know brits’ stance on non brits playing british iconsJanuary 17, 2022 at 8:06 am #1204733612
People have to ditch the narrative that Gaga would be the worst Oscar winner of this century. This would certainly be Olivia Colman. While Gaga might not be the darling of critics, her movie was mostly praised by the audiences. Most importantly, it was actually seen by people, a feat that no other BA hopeful has managed to achieve. Colman’s win might attract less backlash simply because no one (absolutely no one) cared about her movie. Those who did manage to sit through that snoozefest ended up trashing it on RT. If Colman wins, she will have the lowest score for a BA winner. The general public will most certainly ignore Colman’s win so it will arouse zero excitement and stir up zero controversies (it will be Nomadland 2.0, which will further alienate the general public). You will see a bunch of payola’d critics praising her mediocre performance to high heaven, but it will be a pointless circlejerk ignored by the GP.
you are truly hilarious. anyways do i need to explain to you who votes for the winners at the oscar or you can come to that conclusion by yourself w making your brain work for like 2 seconds?January 17, 2022 at 7:35 am #1204733547
I don’t predict. I stan a performance that I love. I don’t care if the performer is winning or not. Besides, Andra Day was totally deserving
