OUTSTANDING LIMITED SERIES: 1. The Undoing (HBO) 2. Mrs. America (FX/HULU) 3. Fargo (FX) 4. Unbelievable (NET) 5. I Know This Much is True (HBO) 6. Hollywood (NET)
I too believe this is our top six unless something really strong comes out. The thing with the acting nominations is that so many contenders have such a large announced cast that it’s hard to tell who is a series regular and who is just recurring at this stage. On the television movie side, I’m pretty sure HBO will acquire films from Sundance.January 25, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1203304539
The Crown needs to submit “Aberfan” for directing, because my God was that a stunning episode.
And Watchmen should submit “A God Walks into Abar” for writing. There is nothing particular about its pilot and “This Extraordinary Being” is more of a directorial achievement. By the way, I really adored the show but I don’t think it deserves any acting nomination. I’m aware that Regina King is locked for a nomination though, given her previous wins.January 25, 2020 at 1:39 pm #1203304467
Is there any buzz/passion for Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2020? I haven’t watched the new season, but the previous season was bad.
She missed the year after she won but returned for her last season.
She missed because Orphan Black didn’t air during that season.January 25, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1203304451
Jodie Comer is more like a Tatiana Maslany to me. She will certainly be dropped because the material of her show isn’t bait. I don’t write her off, but I doubt she’s that strong nomination wise. Last year KE was so hot, and the consensus was that Oh can’t get in without Comer. For the record Maslany was dropped just one year after she won, she eventually returned but yeh you got my point.
Tatiana Maslany was never dropped.January 25, 2020 at 6:09 am #1203303816
I don’t think that Billy Porter will be dropped. Pose‘s AFI recognition guarantees a major nomination.January 24, 2020 at 8:39 am #1203302342
2. The Irishman
4. Marriage Story
6. Jojo Rabbit
7. Little Women
8. Ford v. Ferrari
9. Once Upon a Time in HollywoodJanuary 24, 2020 at 4:28 am #1203302067
This felt like the first season of Barry and Succession. It might have an excellent season in the future but right now it’s just okay.January 22, 2020 at 4:44 pm #1203299490
Academy will consider FX on Hulu as FX. That being said, I personally think these shows should at least have a weekly/marathon run on FX after they air on Hulu.January 21, 2020 at 1:05 pm #1203297117
Is it finally the time for Better Things to enter the race? Pamela Adlon was dropped last year but we don’t have last years’ fierce competition. Maybe GLOW enters again. Both of these comedies are still critically acclaimed. My guess is that we will have something like Russian Doll, new and critically lauded that is backed up by a major player. Otherwise, expect Silicon Valley and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Also, I am yet to finish it but from what I have seen Amazon’s Modern Love was great. If it goes comedy, it should dominate guest acting categories.January 21, 2020 at 11:38 am #1203296875
Can someone leave a list of comedy series that are most likely elegible for the Emmys. When I tried to make my predictions yesterday, I could only think of about 4 nominees for comedy series
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
What We Do in the Shadows
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Good Place
Dead to Me
The Kominsky Method
One Day at a Time
Back to Life
On Becoming a God in Central Florida
Little America and Modern Love might compete in comedy as well.January 19, 2020 at 6:39 pm #1203293474
Someone finally thanks their casting director!
