I don’t want to log in into a forum to read stuff like «Close is dead». It is offensive and problematic under many points of view. And your post is ageist.

Of course but it’s harder. Times are changed since then. SAGS emerged as an important precursors, BAFTA do anticipate Oscars, etc. That’s why we rely so much on them. I’d love for Glenn to win, but at this time of her legacy and career she doesn’t seem really interested at all. She’s a living legend, much more than half of the actual winners.…[Read more]

Don’t know. It’s a sci-fi project and the role seems too small.

Glenn’s stans (like me): she is over for this particular race. Nothing is set in stone, but the times in which actors like Page could prevail at the last time are done. Now, with the precursors system, it’s easy to predict wins and even major upstets – like Colman’s, which was totally not an upset for me.
What Glenn Close needs now is a good film…[Read more]

You don’t know, right? So it was a good occasion to tell something false about an actress without even proving. Congrats.

She praised Foster, too. Research better.

People, Jodie Foster literally won the Globe. This race is wide open. Watch Zengel snatch SAG and Seyfried getting the gold.

Brackett89 replied to the topic How has Glenn Close been nominated 3 times in the past 10 years? in the forum Movies 1 year, 4 months ago
She gets nominated because Academy keeps voting for her. AMPAS couldn’t care less that general public wants Glenn to win an Oscar. The revisionism of some goes beyond logic and reaches outlandish heights.

Ok, there’s some odd revisionism in here.
A) «Only» 11 films, for a +60 y.o. actress, is a good amount of work.
B) The Wife had not «average» reviews. It has positive reviews (86% on RT and 77 on MT).
C) Hillbilly Elegy has been panned by critics but I could never ever tell it is a commercial failure.
D) Academy had the chance to throw a nod…[Read more]

This thread is pure of revisionism, hatred and ageism.
First of all: The Wife got good reviews and Close had massive raves. That’s a fact, there are links, etc. The film itself had a good box-office run for a limited release in August. Datas are easily to be found.
Second: Albert Nobbs was enough loved to reach Academy’s hearts. And that’s a fac…[Read more]

Despite some trolling stuff in here, it’s time not to be too much romantic. AMPAS denied Miss Bacall – a powerful legend of Hollywood – her golden statuette in order to award Miss Binoche in a much stronger film. So a potential snub for Close is likely (yeah, I know, Bacall was at her first, etc., yet…).
But I do think that some hope for Close…[Read more]

Lol @ people believing that screen icon Glenn Close, who has worked with the likes of Robert Altman, George Roy Hill and Stephen Frears, who is currently a theatre master, who is considered an acting legend… could see her legacy affected by an Oscar that is going to be hated from who? Film Twitter? Some bitter pundit? The fans of another film?…[Read more]

Yes and no. Yes: an Oscar would give the project more strenght… but at the same time, are Oscar win still so relevant? I mean: will Glenn’s audiences increase if she is an Oscar winner? Doubt it. Glenn is already a star, not Meryl-level but in the last two years she cemented her status much more than her colleagues. She’s a veteran that can…[Read more]

Jury vote simply wasn’t interested in Colman. They voted for Hopkins.

Brackett89 replied to the topic Oscars 2021 Predictions: Best Supporting Actress (Part 14) in the forum Movies 1 year, 4 months ago
It’s impossible to say.
Colman is in a good position (TF has massive nods) but she could get a good amount of passion – which could (COULD!) be however inferior to the one given to a veteran Colman herself famously has beaten two years ago, showing up with a panned film. It’s Hopkins the one we’re paying for, and yet he probably won’t win, so…[Read more]
