You didn’t like Maureen Stapleton in Reds? I thought she’s pretty great in that. It’s a small role but she has her moments.
The part where she sees Diane Keaton at the train station and stares at her says so much without words. She then apoligizes for misjudging Keaton. I thought that was good stuff.
(impressive list though! Thanks for sharing it.) Glad to see Cloris Leachman and Maggie Smith ranked so high.
Thank you so much! Yes, not gonna lie, I was a bit perplexed with the win. I would have loved more of a story with Emma. Stapleton is such a great actress though, loved her in “Interiors”.February 13, 2021 at 9:48 am #1204040411
The ’70s was full of peculiar choices (Eckhart in Butterflies Are Free, Bergman in Murder on the Orient Express) but Helen Hayes in Airport takes the cake. The year wasn’t so bad that the category needed two Airport actresses nominated. It is so bad.
Eileen Heckart is one of my favorite wins.February 13, 2021 at 9:47 am #1204040403
I believe she says the F word once, that must have helped viewers remembering the role.
Honestly, it was a career award plus she was looking like old Hollywood glamour. Miss Seyfried is too young to repeat this.
I don’t buy this was a career award, the Academy (and other awards) must have seen something in her. I just don’t get it :/February 12, 2021 at 5:10 pm #1204039629
Just finished “LA Confidential” and I have no idea what Kim Basinger was doing. To see she won alot of awards for it to are mind-boggling to me. Just a nothing role that she seems to be sleepwalking through, idk.February 10, 2021 at 12:45 pm #1204035805
I’m surprised more early wins aren’t being mentioned:
All terribly uninteresting (overacted) performances. Not now
